Absolutely.
Everything in that video is as correct as it would have been were it to ridicule DC area residents' concern during the Malvo-Muhammed DC Beltway Sniper Attacks

The right actually has two ideas to "fix" healthcare - tort reform and opening insurance competition across state lines.
Neither will really help healthcare costs, but then neither does ACA but at least it insures more people.

Both would lower insurance costs. Just not drastically. Tort reform could probably lower premiums ~5% over the long haul. I'd guess that selling across state lines would have a lesser impact.
Transparent pricing is also a conservative idea. That would have a nice impact upon healthcare costs, IMO.

have you ever seen the adds for auto insurance on television? know why the big auto insurers had to drop their prices, because Geico and General and Progressive are all competitive with All State and State Farm and those guys were forced to drop their prices to compete with the discount insurers,
it would absolutely drive prices down, why are these statewide health insurance monopolies allowed to exist in the first place?

On tort reform, it's possible in the long run it might, but Texas recently has some pretty sweeping tort reforms and it hasn't had much of an impact on healthcare costs.
And maybe it's just the cynic in me, but if competition is opened across state lines, the carriers will just set their premiums at the high end, so states with cheaper insurance will see huge premium increases. Again, maybe in the long run things will balance out.
To wit though, I'm not really against either measure. I wish the right would accept ACA and work more to fine tune it instead of fighting it at every turn. The way it was written it is going to be nearly impossible to repeal without some type of replacement already in plan. Yes, it's a horrible plan overall, but take the good and work on fixing the bad.

Well its the law.
I hope its repealed and will vote for a tree if it promised to fight for just that.

Yes, it's a horrible plan overall, but take the good and work on fixing the bad.
The problem is also that it is harder to delete the crappy bill and start over.
Either way, we are fricked.

Are you serious?
Competition ALWAYS drives prices of goods down. And reduced litigation will definitely reduce overall healthcare costs.
How do you no see that?

Texas has not smelled Tort Reform.
Texas revised its Tort Laws. That's it. It was a tweak of a horrible system. Nothing more.
No country in the world outside of the US would consider instituting the Texas Law instead of their own.
