As someone who places people in IT jobs and reviews resumes for a living... you guys don't know what you're talking about.

Certifications are only important/required in a FEW positions.

As for experience, you're either "junior" from 0-4 years, 5+ years CAN be a "senior" depending on the company with the reqs.

You either choose one direction and stick with it and try your luck at finding companies that are looking for what you have (duh) or you get a little bit of everything and go for 'full stack' experience.

OP, I'm not kidding... email me and I may be able to help you with your search. I can think of several IT firms in BR/St. Francisville/Laffy/NOLA/Hammond/North Shore

Winner winner chicken dinner.

Experience is king from what I've seen. It appears to me that some companies that don't have a lot of work but have a crap ton of money throw certs and people as a form of compensation.

Although I will say that if you can hop on a good ITIL cert that is worth having. A+ and even some MS certs at this point are handed out like food stamps.

I say this all the time in the tech board...My numb nuts tech here has a Cisco cert...Every now and then I ask him to provision a port on the switch for me..Other than that, he couldn't turn on a TV without a remote
