The Texas Department of State Health Services confirmed that the worker had tested positive in a statement early Wednesday. It did not specify what position the worker held at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, though officials did say that the person was among those who provided care for Duncan, who died from the virus Oct. 8.

The statement said that the worker had reported a fever Tuesday and had been placed in isolation. Preliminary Ebola tests were run at the state public health lab in Austin and results came back at approximately midnight Wednesday. A separate test will be done at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

Not looking good. If there is a third or fourth report, head for the hills.

I hate to see this for this health system. They actually won the top quality award in Texas last year. They were on the verge of winning a national award too. Shows hop important process and people are in the entire healthcare continuum. Each patient has the opportunity to make or break you as a hospital.

The hospital is unfairly being a target and may not recover financially from this. There are a ton of patients being transferred to other facilities and a ton others leaving AMA so there isn't an inflow of dollars. Not to mention that the ER went to drive by status last week.

If there is one silver lining in this wholly preventable mess is that the secondary infections are still healthcare workers who are up to speed in what to look for (and I'm sure they were on the watch list). The real bugaboo will take place if someone away from any primary ties to the hospital gets infected. Then this will be exponentially harder to control.

Thought they were like 4-1? 4-0 on American citizens, the only ones who really count.

Deep down, the hardest part is resetting the days without a accident board.

No excuses, play like a champion.

But I'm of course being sarcastic. That doesn't lessen the fact that this is a huge deal. Id rather see an overreaction here from the CDC/Gubmnet than an underreaction, wouldn't you?

Don't get Jesse Jackson started.

uhhh no

the last thing we need is an overreaction and get all the paranoid wingnuts riled up.

Panic doesn't solve anything
