True, Jones was very unreliable in '68 and '69 but he wrote Ruby Tuesday and the music for Under My Thumb - his mirambas make that song. Jagger/Richards got credit for things that Brian and Bill wrote. Bill came up with the riff for Jack Flash but he got nothing.
I like Keef Riffhard but the one thing I DO NOT like about him is his revisionist history. He may bag on Brian but if it weren't for Brian, we wouldn't be talking about them. Honestly I think Keith feels a little guilty for stealing Anita Pallenberg from Brian which really sent him in a tailspin. Granted you can't blame Keith for BJ's death and Brian's choices are his own but Keith hasn't been kind to Brian... or really Jagger, Taylor, or Wyman either. I'm more of a Taylor guy than Jones or Woody so I don't have a Jones agenda.
And let's not forget Keith's heroin days from '71-'77. It was during this period that Keith wasn't present at sessions and Jagger had to take over the band's direction (some musically but definitely financially and logistically). After Keith had been sober a couple of years, he wanted to lead the band again much to Jagger's chagrin which helped contribute to the mid-late 80's feud and still exists today to a point. Keith did not even play on the following songs: Sway, Moonlight Mile, Stop Breaking Down, Shine A Light, 100 Years Ago, Coming Down Again, Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo, Hide Your Love, Winter, Can't You Hear The Music. Guitars were all done by Taylor with some rhythm help by Jagger.

Klein was still alive while the book was being written (but died before it came out) so that may have had something to do with it.

Mick Taylor was a critical part of those classic 70s Stones albums. He was the best guitarist to ever play in the band. Can't You Hear Me Knocking gets a lot of love but Winter and Sway contain magnificent solos as well.

I don't think that's true, but I think guitar god types massively overrate Brian Jones. Most of us don't really give a crap about guitar gods, outside of Clapton and Hendrix. Technical ability is honestly not that important in rock n roll. There's not that many chords, and making things complex is almost always a bad idea.
Though I do agree he likely feels bad about stealing Anita. Keith strikes me as a pretty difficult guy, as is Mick. There's a reason really Charlie Watts is the only human being who could put up with both of them for their whole lives. Also, Charlie is sort of awesome.
Yeah, Keith had terrible heroin problems in the 70s, and know what happened? The band essentially folded. When Jones had drug issues, they kept churning out some of the greatest albums ever recorded. When Keith was out of commission, it is essentially ended the Stones as a viable unit.
Going back to the Beatles v. Stones thing, that also gives the Beatles an unfair edge. We look at the Stone 80s output and shrug our shoulders. but it was still better than anything the Beatles were doing, who broke up, did some solo albums of varying quality, and, er, died. Really, we should only compare peak Stones v. peak Beatles and not really rate Tattoo You too highly in our evaluation. And I do agree it comes down to personal taste. If you like pop songs, the Beatles are you band. If you like blues-infused rock, then you're a Stones guy.

I'll add that Taylor did the funky bass on Fingerprint File while Keith played guitar and Bill synths. I believe as well that Taylor was the best guitarist the Stones have ever had.

It's not trolling when it's the truth. Those lyrics are pure cheese, and you know it.
If you take the name Beatles out of the equation, and look at those lyrics objectively. You have to admit, it's nothing more than elementary, cheesy, garbage.
