Such a versatile building, which is amazing considering its age.

unfortunately... w/ the recent reconfiguration... baseball can no longer be played in the Superdome
and I remember going to a MLB exhibition game at the Dome when I was a kid... Red Sox vs. White Sox I believe

the Winn Dixie showdown used to be the shite

Man that's a ton of foul territory. First to third on a passed ball!

Was there for several pro games.
It was absolutely cavernous.
Reggie in da house!

What was that tournament they used to play with LSU, Tulane and UNO. I've been to that a couple of times.

It really is a very versatile stadium
Basketball
Boxing
Baseball
football
monster trucks
** Bonus. What year was that turf in the dome? Look closely, there are huge hints.

Saw the Yankees play there in some type of exhibition game, I wanted to say they played the Red Sox.

Jesus that backstop is so far away. Billy Hamilton could make it from 1st to Home.

Hell yeah! One year, Louisiana vs. Texas. The next, Vs. California and so on. The only time LSU, Tulane and UNO fans pulled for each other.

Well before the Z's arrived, the Dome hosted one season of AAA baseball. It was home to the New Orleans Pelicans of the American Association. They were the AAA affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals and Tony LaRussa was their starting SS.

since the year is already posted... I'll post the hints...
the NFL 75th Anniversary Season logos at the 30 yard lines
really wish our end zones still looked something like that

yep. Same patch that is on my Jim Everitt throwback.

the Saints (and every NFL team that had 1) wore throwbacks that season
here's Willie Roaf in the Saints throwback... which would be illegal nowaday... w/ the aforementioned patch/logo
eta: back on topic... the best I can find for baseball dimensions in the Dome back then are from a message board so take this with a grain of salt
quote:
I read an article about baseball in the Superdome, and I believe it said the dimensions were 325 down the lines, 380 in the power alleys, and 430 to center (although the YouTube video showed center to be 421 feet).
So, the Superdome's baseball dimensions from left to right would be 325-380-421-380-325.
