So, I have a Tag McLaren AV32R preamp to base the system on. It’s older but was very highly regarded. I also have an Anthem amp I could put into service while I decide what to do for power. I’ll just need to decide on a turntable, phono preamp and speakers and I’ll be in business.

Tag McLauren.....haven’t heard that name in a while!

It’s been hanging out in my family room for years and years. We’re moving and I realized I should probably grab it out of that cabinet it’s in.

How do you like those Zu speakers?
Tonight’s selection.

Oh man, this would look killer in my Mac wall! I need to convince the wife of it. I can move the Furman power conditioner into the AV closet and put this piece in the visible in wall rack that’s in my theater. It would finish off everything nicely

Marco, I may have missed it, but did you sell your Focal’s?

Still have them—in the other system. I like them, so I won’t ever get rid of them.
I am about to move the Magneplanar 1.7 into that system though, and add a couple new 10” subs and another SVS 16” sub and run an analog 3-way crossover between the 16” subs (45Hz and down), 10” subs (110 Hz to 45 Hz), and the Maggie panels (110Hz and up).
Just for a little while—see how it sounds...

Just a thank you to everyone. You all have answered all of my questions concerning audio equipment without having to ask a single question. I have learned more from reading the Audiophile/Vinyl threads than I have known for 60 years. Been collecting vinyl since I was 10 years old. My favorite is 45's but have nice collection of albums too. I have and continue to improve my playing equipment/listening enjoyment thanks to all of you. Happy listening.

I’m not a huge Bob Dylan fan, but I’ve always loved this record.

Terrible situation going on over here. I have a sneaking suspicion that my roommate fricked up the stylus on my turntable, as I went to play a record and it was basically crushed up into the cart, then when I went to look at it, it simply fell off. Then, when I went to replace the cart, one of the damn tone arm wires slipped out. Didn’t break, but came out of the little sleeve, now I have a humming sound. I have no tools to fix this and I’m fricking pissed because I can’t exactly prove that my roommate did it, although it suspiciously was in that condition not of my own accord.

A pair of very small needle nose pliers or tweezers, and some good glasses and it’s an easy fix. Just slide the bare wire end into the sleeve (you can buy a new pack of 4 tonearm leads for $5 if yours is too difficult to re-open to receive the wire lead—parts express)—and pinch the lead with the pliers. It does require a steady hand though.
