Also, Brick has put like 84 linemen in the league. I'm not certain he overnight forgot how to spot them or coach them. The problem with attrition is LSU can't afford to have these guys learn the position or to miss on any of them, because these issues basically will cripple the defense.
from 2011 you lost these guys (many to the league):
Ken Adams
Chancey Aghayere
Michael Brockers
Josh Downs
Ego
Anthony Johnson
Logan
Edwards
Sonic
Mingo
and you missed on Dennis Johnson, Maclin, and Allen.
There isn't a whole lot of room for error.

The entire offense improved when Harris entered the game. The O-line started opening up holes and everyone seemed to play with a little more energy. Harris only threw the ball one time on his first series and it was a screen pass. We ran the ball down their throat like we should have been doing the entire game. The formations were more open with some three wide sets on first down instead of i-formation and one wide. Everything just flowed better with him at the helm. I think Jennings is just a limited quarterback and it causes the entire offense to get away from what they're good at. So, I would expect a tremendous improvement in the offense in general from start to finish and in turn less snaps for the defense creating a better product on that side of the ball as well.

Weren't you the one bitching about Grimes and saying you wanted stud back?

Stud is gone but the lack of corching and bad habits remain so Grimes gets a pass this year IMO
Miles should have let Stud go 2 years ago IMO.
Bricks issues are talent related. not sure where that blame gets placed

At some point players have to play. No one would have said don't recruit Bain, Gilmore, and Herron. No one would have though Mickey Johnson couldn't be taught to be a competent body. On the upside, the staff really did great work on Thomas. If he was ever fully healthy, his production would be very impressive.

bullshite! Young? WTF does that mean when your job is simply to not get blown out of position.
It has been a consistent struggle for years on the DL and can no longer be blamed on age.
Theya re NOT being coached up, they are just not up to speed. No one is asking for all americans, but my GOd can they do anything?

False. It is directly age related when combined with attrition. That is exactly the problem. It has to be blamed on that because that is the actual problem.

Staff didn't really want Johnson though. They cooled on him for a reason and his commitment was a surprise. Hunter and Rasco are utter busts at this point...so yeah, they struck out on them. However, it's too early to evaluate the rest of the lineman because they're all true sophomores or younger.
Haley developed many NFL players here. I can't remember but didn't he evaluate the ridiculous line class when we got Mingo, Brockers, Sam, etc? Hell, Lavar Edwards even turned out to be damn good but because LSU's line was so good he was second string and still went to NFL.

People that are bashing our oline play are crazy. You could have the 92 cowboys oline and they couldn't block 10 man fronts. I dont think posters understand how little other teams respected our passing game. 85% of the game Miss st was in man coverage with one safety over the top.then when we were in obvious passing downs all the defense had to do was pin their ears back.

I'm not a recruiting guy, so I'm not sure, but I though they cooled on MJ because they thought he wouldn't qualify. Then, he surprised the world by qualifying.
Rasco and Hunter are not busts. That's absurd.

horseshite, I remember the thread. You raised the question in a backhanded way towards Grimes and then tried to prop up Stud despite the pathetic effort he gave the last two years he was here. In fact, is that you fatass?

LSU has had a ton of early leaves to the NFL on the dline. The oline is experienced and shouldn't be playing like they are. The dline has the excuse of experience though because they usually rotate at least 2 lineman in each position and they've barely rotated lineman in critical situations. Hunter/Rasco/QT are the only older lineman on that entire dline. Everyone else with the exception of MJ who doesn't even play is no older than a true sophomore. That's a lot of inexperience and then you have 2 busts in Hunter/Rasco.
It's impossible to have your dline dominate each year when you lose the amount of juniors on the dline like LSU did. Even Brockers left early and he was only a RS Sophomore.
A large reason LSU is getting gashed on runs is a combination of inexperience, discipline, physical growth(too young), technique and complete fatigue due to lack of rotations. Davon and Lacouture(sp?) should be in reserve duty right now but because we don't have anyone better than them now, they're forced to play.
