I'd go under there too.

Just for reference, AL team batting average was .253. NL was .249.

Houston hit .242 as a team last year. And that was with a ton of guys hitting .220 or less.

Stros will be top 3 in the league homers but I think they'll be under 211. The O's had some huge years from guys for that to happen. I think we hit 163 last year which was good for fourth in the ML

I will actually take the over (barring any injuries). They hit 163 last year -- 4th most in all of MLB.

Jesus Guzman and Robbie Grossman took a lot of ABs away from some better players last year. A HR capable LF and Gattis and add in a full season of Springer -- Astros should be right around 200 HRs.

Flipside -- they struck out 1,442 times last year (35 less than the Cubs ) Over 300 of those belong to Grossman, Krauss, Dominguez and Guzman. So, the question is, do the trio of Gattis, Rasmus, and Marisnick strike out substantially more than 300 times?

Don't forget Valbuena. He K's at a high clip too.

Edit: I guess you replace Matty D's K's from last season with Valbuena's, so he may not offer much more.

Pretty excited about this upcoming season, I can see the Astros improving on the record from last year.

IMO the funniest part will be when some of the guys from the minors start forcing their way to Houston this year. It's been building for a few years but I think over the course of the next three or so seasons we will see the farm produce a large influx of talent at the MLB level.

I know some guys started coming up last year, but I think the amount of quality home grown players will increase.

Imagine how bad our average would have been without Altuves .341. But yes, our average was 25th in the league. I hope it comes up, but I dont know how likely that is with this lineup.

Springer will hit 50 by himself if healthy.

Hmmmm. What does this mean for Gattis? You need his bat and Carter's bat in the lineup, obviously. So does this mean one of them is expected to play 1st and Singleton goes back to AAA?

Edit: This can change 100 times before and during Spring, so I'm not reading into an offseason quote too much, Prom Just think its an interesting topic

The dealing is not done yet. Still some trading to happen. Carter is just as good defensively at 1b than the butcher singleton. Gatti could probably play there too.singleton was horrible and doesn't sound like he worked that hard over the offseason. He needs to earn a spot. Last hear we had no options. That isn't the case this year.

I really think Singleton heads to Reno.

Corporan to Rangers as expected.

I'm not gonna lie, I saw the interview of Singleton those quotes were pulled from and it was odd. He said he was frustrated a lot last year but didn't make it sound like he was busting his arse this offseason. I'm sure he was but it was weird.

I guess it's a good problem to finally have, a surplus of MLB quality players. I'm intrigued by Marisnick, though. Not sure why he wouldn't play CF but a lot can change. The Rasmus signing threw me for a loop.

Will be the best defensive OF in baseball with three CF out there.

Marisnick may platoon with grossman.

For no reason other than his defense, I want to see Marisnick get in his growing pains and stick and be a full time starter. I think he may be worth it.

Want to watch a video that will get you pumped? Check out the latest by Appel. He sounds like he is truly motivated to prove that last year was just a one time thing. On my phone so all I have is the mobile LINK

I am glad to see we are still going after minor league guys, mainly pitching.

Eta- and I know we weren't going to get much for Corporan, but a minor league arm is nice.
