SMU "intrigued" by the idea of hiring Mack Brown

Per Bruce Feldman.

SMU is currently in the market for a head coach after June Jones stepped down from the position earlier this month, and according to one report, Jones' replacement could be another coach from Texas who recently walked away.
And that coach is Mack Brown.
FoxSports.com's Bruce Feldman reports that "well-connected SMU brass are intrigued by Brown and think he might be tempted by the chance to coach again."
Brown is currently working as an analyst for ESPN, but there's no telling whether or not he'd have legitimate interest in the job -- if offered. Plenty of coaches transition from the sideline to the studio and find life on television to be a lot better, as there are far less demands on your time.
If Brown did want to return, though, he'd be a good hire for SMU. He's obviously familiar with the state of Texas and recruiting there, but he'd also bring a sort of legitimacy to the SMU program that it just hasn't had in a long time.

Stay in the studio, Mack. Don't go to that cursed place.

When the same rumor came out about Nebraska, Texas fans said that was his agent just trying to extort Texas for more money in whatever figurehead job he has there now.

He could get the band back together. Applewhite isn't doing anything as far as I know and I'm sure Greg Robinson will get fired again soon.

I'd also be weary of the guy being gone after 2 seasons if he has any success, which I think can be more long term harmful than positive some times.
Shockingly "only" 63 years old.

He'd be great at glad handing those rich boosters and losing football games just like he was doing at texas.

If you want to re-energize a program, make sure you hire 63 year old Mack Brown.

Well Larry worked so try Mack.
I think it should be Beck though.

Time for the Aggies to cancel their series with SMU

No aTm wants the game because it's a sellout and they dictate the terms.
If SMU can win a few aTm will cancel it claiming SEC schedule. They then will play Rice.
I think aTm has no reason to cancel it even if they start losing, they use it as recruiting weekend.

If Mack has gotten a nice rest and is ready to get his old arse out there and recruit, it could work.

If he actually gets off his bum and recruits instead of shutting it down after Junior Day he wouldn't be a bad hire.
