Any recommendations for the Baton Rouge area?
Don't really have any experience in this area but
I'm mad and I could kick his arse.

He's lucky to have parents who care. Good Luck!

Sorry that I do not. I hope it all works out for him and he realizes what caring parents he has.

Best wishes.

does he actually want to get help for his drug problem? if not, he won't complete the program.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and mama. I was that son at one time. It didn't keep me sober at the time being because I was doing it to get them off my back. But I am sober now, years later, and still recall little tidbits I learned in there. Even if a mustard seed is planted, any little bit helps.

Man, my parents went thru this shite with my older sister years ago. Best of luck. You're a good man and your kid is lucky to have you. Hope your child is ready to make a change.

I didn't think you were old enough to have a kid on drugs

How old is your kid, what drug is he doing, and how did you find out?

I know someone who successfully kicked heroin through some program in BR (the second time around) -- the name is on the tip of my tongue but I can't think of it. Trying to look it up but haven't come across it yet.

It's great that you care enough to say, this behavior must stop...

Every family deals with this. Some better than the majority.

I wish you the best in dealing with this.

Depends on his age and how much you're willing to spend.

If he's still in high school or just getting to college and he's involved in hard drugs, there are some great options out of state. Places in the country where the rehab center is on a ranch have extremely positive results. You don't have to go through a religious organization, though you can.

Either way, you're doing a great thing by helping him if he really needs it. The people I know who got help are doing very well professionally, and they have been able to use their experience to strengthen their work ethic and ability to adapt to change. Good luck

I have one not to recommend. I had a family member in St. Christopher's. I think that was the name of it. Anyway, it's a dump.

That place in North LA is amazing.

Put him in rehab out of town..local leads to new connections, not healing.

They have to want to get clean. First time I went I wasn't ready and all I got out of it was better connects. Second time went to a nicer place ready to give it up and I've been good for multiple years.

I was lucky to have parents stick by me and be supportive. U are doing the right thing
