Now and into the future?
It appears to be a completely open ended conflict with no shortage of boogeymen.

No
The military would rather conduct 1990's-style peacekeeping operations and a hundred joint training exercises per year and and would also rather divert resources going to destroy these idiots to future weapons programs.

Better than continuing the war on drugs.
Drugs don't plot to blow up people for not being one of them.

I thought the Usurper in Chief was sending them to fight Ebola and John F'n Kerry wants them to fight globull warming? You know, exactly what they are trained to do.

the "Military" and the "businesses who run the military" are not one and the same ... one of them, along with the dems wall st cronies, runs the country ... the other one is made largely of people just trying to be patriotic ...

Ah... the heady smell of conspiracy buffs in the air. Please tell me someone will accuse the secret Reptillian Overlords of masterminding this whole thing.

Well, at least until the Chinese military is built up enough to be truly belligerent.
But, in seriousness, I do not predict any major military budget cuts in our future.

Will never end but continue to escalate, yes.

This is true of the rank and file military....but when you get to about the rank of Lt Colonel and they start thinking about civillian DoD jobs or federal contracts this mindset changes in direct proportion as they gain rank. By the time a soldier has a star on his chest he is about as corrupt, in general, as any politician in Washington....

There is largely a lot of truth in this; but even with politicians in D.C. there are exceptions. In the DOD there are even more exceptions when it comes to generals and corruption if you ask me. To stick around that long and play the game of "making rank" definitely changes you a bit. I think a lot of these guys are just interested in serving the people of this great country, but there are some who are interested in serving themselves and their interests.

I doubt if many go into the military with pocket lining at the forefront....but after years and years of seeing others do it along with the natural cynicism that comes with age many do eventually get to the point where their own interests are more important than that of the nation....and not all of them, but a bunch of 'em....

Meh.
If it weren't mohammedan marauders, it would be some other group.
The history of people has been that there is always some organized bunch out there willing to plunder another.
