no........taxes are theft
One can argue all day long, and then some, about how society imposes taxes, and the uses for those taxes. But the need for taxes in a civilized society is not really debatable.

I mean i think it is wrong.
I don't know if negligent homocide is the exact analogy.
But you are anti-taxes, why are you comparing tax evasion to draft dodging?

Anyone who is not doing everything possible to retain their money and avoid paying taxes is a fool.

I believe the theft comes before the evasion.

How about this instead:
both are crimes, and both have people who use the system to get away with the crimes.

Who's money is it anyway?
Is it the Government's money or my money?
When I receive a dollar in income for work I've put in through the week, does that not represent labor and energy that I've put into earning that dollar? And if so, then when someone else says it's theirs, the money I've worked for, is it not theft, or worse, do I now work on a plantation and have no right to my own property, and do I now work a percentage of my hours during the day for the plantation master?

Sorry just in to work. I'll respond later to the taxation issue. some would say all property is theft. In the 70s we said all profit was gross.

Why not answer the question?

You're analogy is terrible, that's why.
Tax Evasion is prosecuted as Tax Evasion.

If you believe that tax evasion is theft,
Do you also believe draft dodging is negligent homicide?
"Draft Dodging", as in refusing to report for service once you are drafted, is technically enforced by the military as someone going AWOL (I think). You can't actually "dodge" a draft.
So no, "draft dodging" is not the same as negligent homicide.
My question back: Was there a point to this thread?

tax evasion is to theft as draft dodging is to kidnapping.

People are getting caught in legal definitions. You are taking it too literal.
My question is a response to people calling tax evasion theft. Are they calling it the legal definition of theft? I doubt it. I assume they mean, the simple popular definition, as in, "taking someone else's stuff."
If they government owns your property, as in the belief of the person who believes that tax evasion is theft, I am asking does this extend to the draft as well. By comparison, this would mean that draft dodging is at best reckless endangerment or at worst negligent homicide.

I understand what you're trying to argue, but you are oversimplifying the matter.
At it's core, taxes are a payment for services rendered, such as roads to drive on, infrastructure, a military to keep your safe, and a system of laws to protect you from criminals.

Muhammed Ali dodged the draft. But he paid enough taxes to buy a tank. So, he indirectly killed more Viet Cong than Americans.

My opinion is you are overcomplicating the matter. Why don't look at it simply, answer the question, and explain why?
