Considering using all Electrolux icon appliances in our home we are building Have seen some bad reviews. We have a good deal lined up. Just wondering if any of you have had bad experiences. Thanks!

You can play their vacuums.

I've talked to a few folks in the business about who said they weren't very good. Apparently skill at vacuum manufacturing doesn't translate to kitchen appliances. Or maybe it does because they both apparently suck hard. :rimshot:

My mom has an Electrolux range, and as far as I know has really liked it. It's 2-3 years old, but she doesn't do a lot of hardcore cooking or utilize all of the features.

electrolux = Frigidaire = White Westinghouse
Great for some things, horrible at others.

Thanks for the replies. Picking out kitchen appliances that function and look nice without feeling like your getting screwed is a pain.

I've had great luck with LG appliances. Reliable and durable. Not the most expensive either.

I got all thermador for our house we are building. Looking online I see good and bad about all of them. I liked what thermador had to offer and had a great package sale. They may still be running it.

Thermador is on our short list. A Relative has one and complains that when cooking in small pans it just heats the outer edges, not the middle of the pan. Positives and negatives on em all.

Thanks ruzzy. I posted on this board to get good advice such as yours. Many thanks. I am actually an OT baller. I got that way by making good financial decisions.

Grow some skin Boom. Thank me later.
Srly, I saw a nice house by Brandon Kraft in the BR that was tricked out with electrolux appliances that cost about 13K. They looked pretty nice but who knows how long they will last.
I have a bid for Wolf Sub Z appliances for my new construction that is 2.5 times that, but will I get that much value out of it, who knows.
Do what you feel is best for you and what is usual for the price point of your house if you decide to sell it in the future.

I have Electrolux Icon upright freezer/matching refrigerator, electrolux dish washer, and thermador range in a package deal. I've been extremely satisfied so far.

I'm not a fan of package appliances. Rarely does any company excel at all kitchen jobs. Buy each item separately on its own merits. Who cares if all the handles match? My other tip is NOT to skimp on the hood. Get something with decent CFM or your nicer, higher btu stove will be useless. Standard hoods sold by the major kitchen brands are crap. Go look at Broan, you can get decent quality for not too much dough (unlike ventahood, or the upscale brands).

Agree with Hungryone.
Just ordered a new gas range from NXR which is a new brand that is getting solid reviews. Now searching for hood, thanks for brand rec.

BO here's what I put up over my 30" BlueStar: LINK
The 48" gave me good overhang and it is 1200 CFM with an internal blower (no need for a roof mount or side assembly blower). I like the pro style stainless removable baffles and drip rail. You can take it apart and run thru the dishwasher on the steam cycle.
NXR ranges are good stuff for the money.

I was really close to pulling trigger on a 36 Blue Star but I just couldnt justify that expense. It must be my New Iberia roots poking through. Then I saw the NXR and sort of fell in love. Ithad everythinh I wanted at a a third of the price.

Broan is a cheap brand.....
The base SS hoods are $80 from them and they sell $30 vents.
They are cheaper than the "major" brands.
But they are good units if you buy their higher end (250-400) line.

I'm really liking the NXR as my pick.... can't really find anything bad on them, not really any electronics to frick up. looks good as well, I wish the costco here would carry them in store so i could see what they look like up close and personal.
The only other brand that i've seen at the price point that seems to have good reviews are the kitchen aid ranges.
need to find a good hood as well. I only have a 30" space for mine, so i'm limited on things.

Thanks. This is more a response that I would expect on the f& d board. We had a pretty good deal on a package deal through stines here in youngsville and they pulled the plug on us. Money wise I doubt we can beat it, but I learned a quick lesson, I hope. I will pay a little more for better service. Every manufacturer has pluses and minuses. Just hard to get the right package lined up.
