I would be willing to bet that was a dummy round

The concussion from which would likely still kill a person.

I forgot who it was - some soap opera actor - played RR with a "dummy round". The compression of air, at that close range (range being "gun pressed to head") kilt him.

A dummy round is completely inert because it contains no percussion cap or any other explosive substance or device.

I bet if someone was devoted and stupid enough, they could get really good at putting the round in the same place every time, and practice spinning it exactly the same so that it falls outside of the hot chamber.

He says dummy round, not a blank

They are made of aluminum, are weighted with filler, and have a little rubber plug for the hammer to strike where the primer should be

Used for practicing reloading as well as to help correct technique of staying on target through the trigger squeeze

Then it wasn't a "dummy round." A dummy round has no explosive or charge.

ETA: Damn. We all jumped on the misuse of dummy round pretty damn quick.

What an idiot if that was a real bullet. The thing is, he did it so fast, it makes me think he's done it before. There's only so many times you can do that before the odds catch up to you. He's a walking dead man.
