Should the US switch to the metric system?

I say yes. Everything based off of ten is much easier than remembering how many cups are in a gallon etc.
What do yall think?

When is the last time in day to day life did you need to know how many cups were in a gallon?
If it aint broke dont fix it

I'm in. We should do it like the UK does it, though. Leave miles in place and be fluent in both.

flip it over and you will get a more accurate measure of your pecker's length.

Didn't we try this once before under Carter? I don't see a reason to switch.

I wasn't alive either but I believe there was a huge push towards metric back then that never took hold.

I believe going metric would enable ISIS to better measure stuff and thangs thus making them more deadly. Better to keep them confused by continuing to us our f@cked up system.

Yes, for the love of God, yes.
Our system is fricking retarded and overly complicated.

It will never happen. Industry is entrenched in the imperial system. It would take massive capital expenditures to change from imperial to the SI system just to satisfy someone's angst for the imperial system.
However in terms of education, us the SI system. It is much easier.
As an engineer I use both with no issues.

Sounds good in principle - and as a scientist I would fricking love it if we went metric -BUT- in practice its going to mean a lot of government spending (just think of all the street signs and government forms that would need to be replaced) - not to mention the thousands of laws and regulations that will have to be written. Not to mention that we've all been educated to use the English system.

In the medical field, if my understanding is correct, they already use the metric system predominantly.

In science metric is used exclusively. (most use "mks" - meters, kilograms, seconds - astronomers use "cgs" - centimeters, grams seconds - which makes no fricking sense because everything is bigger in astronomy - but there it is. (E&M sometimes uses cgs, too)
In U.S. engineering - they use English.
This caused a space probe to crash once.
