I got a Hickory burger last night that was pretty good. The sweet potato waffle fries were bad though.

We split an entree..

But actually the last time I went and spent $70, it was understandable. I mean, yeah the beers were $6 and weren't even good beers, but otherwise.. $10 sandwich is fine. Price for cheese fries is fine.

But the time before that..

Friends asked us to meet up. We decided to order 3 apps. The $10 shrimp (their "specialty") were literally 3 shrimp. We couldn't even share with anyone.

The alligator came in a DRESSING cup. The sauce was in a bigger container. And they were at least $10.

And the fried mozz couldn't even be dipped in the marinara.

After a couple rounds of beer, you're looking at $50 and still starving.. and he and I eat like toddlers.

Now yeah.. if I get the Black Jack Chicken sandwich, I think it's decent. And it's massive. It would easily feed two people.
But I shouldn't have to have a strategy for a restaurant I should be able to snack on 3 apps with my SO and feel satisfied.

Maybe they screwed his up but for the most part I dont even think this board can complain about their fries. They are standard waffle fries

I think I see what the issue here is. Walk-ons does have food that sucks. 100%. They try to be too much of a "true louisiana" restaurant and offer items they suck at cooking honestly. But if you go there and order Cheese Fries/ Fried pickles and then Burgers/Sandwich like a traditional sports bar I dont see how one can complain

The Burgers and sandwiches at Walk-Ons are just as good as every other restaurant,

I agree with you there.

But I totally see why someone would say a place "sucks" when you can't order 70%-80% of their menu. That does suck. To feel like you have to have a gameplan because the food that a restaurant boasts about is awful... simply sucks. And I still don't think even the "safe" items are better than elsewhere. They're simply better than the truly not good things on the menu.

It doesn't mean you're going to projectile vomit when you eat the food, . It just sucks that such a good location and good atmosphere could be so much more.

You're high.

If you think the burger at WalkOns is ANYTHING like the burger at Flemings.. Portabellos.. Dearmans..

You're insane.

To be fair, I'd eat a Walk-Ons burger before I ever eat a Dearmans burger again.

I ate at the Corporate location with a work group for lunch last week. Apps were fine (cheese fries and fried pickles). I got the boom-boom shrimp poboy. Not the greatest bread, but big serving size and I had plenty of shrimp.

I'm not itching to go back, but it's certainly not worthy of the hate it gets here. There are far worse places (hell, some in the same shopping center) that people could direct their ire at.

I was just naming burger places people like

I only order burgers at Flemings these days. It's a waste of time and money elsewhere. There are some places I get when I'm craving a burger, but Flemings is my one and only.

I am very careful about my homemade burgers, so I compare everything to them.

Thought about you the other night with Yeezy. I walked into a smoking bar and said "Wow, it doesn't smell smoky at all here"

I admittedly haven't eaten there in probably 3 or 4 years. But this is nuts.

the only thing that is really out of whack on that is the cost of the beer and the $1.99 upcharge for sweet potato over regular fries

And maybe the double crown. but i've seen prices that high before. albeit on Bourbon St.

Did they really charge $1 for ice? Is that normal (I don't ever order mixed drinks at bars/restaurants)?

really? Rocks means it's a bigger pour. 2 oz vs 1.5 oz. But we have had that thread before.

Double means it is a bigger pour. Rocks means ice. If they are increasing the amount of alcohol by 1 oz aka, 25% on a double for only $1 then they are not charging enough. Something is fishy about that statement.
