I have never watched any of the other seasons, but this new one seems interesting to me. To understand it, will I have to be up to date on all the seasons before, or is each season a different plot line?

Each season is different with new characters and storyline. Many of the actors are the same tho.

Highly recommend first season. Good stuff

First season was great. Didn't like other 2. Hopefully they'll rebound this season.

No, but go back and watch Season 1, by far the best out of the 3 so far.

You also might want to check out Season 2, as it sounds like some of the characters in Season 4 are in Season 2, which will show how they got to the Asylum

Yes.

Season one is good, Asylum is okay, third season is meh.

Hopefully they rebound this year.

First season was awesome. The others started out great, had some really good ideas, then just got lost mid-season. I think this is a trait exhibited by many Ryan Murphy projects. He must have ADD.

I still need to watch S1, but am busy with other shows for now. I will say that I tried to jump in and watch S3 live last year, and it was some of the worst television I've ever witnessed. It was laughably horrible.

If they are smart, they will go back to some of the formula from season 1. It was an incredible season. As someone said earlier, even though it was grounded in the supernatural, it didn't go overboard, so you could really believe it was all happening. It felt very real, which made it much more intense/scary. Also, that young maid

Season 2 was okay, but wasn't very scary, and relied too much on "gruesome horror".

Season 3 was just weird. Not very good.

I really hope they make this season scarier than the past 2, and not as campy. I don't have high hopes though. Ryan Murphy is too concerned about using metaphors to give a message about some social issue than making a great show.

OK frickers... I'm back in time for this. To quote myself on IMDB...

quote:

Carnivale on Steroids. Freak Show will be as close to a perfect platform as is possible for this show. Carnivale was something the viewing public just wasn't ready for at the time but it certainly laid some groundwork for what I think we will be seeing. It sets itself up perfectly for episodic backstories while leaving space for an overall arc (hopefully without a lot of religion, no offense intended). Also - knowing the amount of episodes so it can wrap up properly.

CAN'T WAIT.
