Right, but do you think State should be favored if the game was there? I'm just trying to get what you think the point differential is between the two. This means they have LSU lined less than a TD above State, that doesn't really seem unreasonable. And I think it opened a little lower in some places and has been bet up.

Its being bet up big time right now. Id have it as a pickem in starkville but im obviously not thinking the same as vegas.

My initial thought, yes ... agreed.

Would have rather seen a line of 12 at opening.

I see it going down to 5 or 6. LSU isn't last years LSU

Do any of you actually believe lines have any relevance to the outcome?

That really isn't far off from the open when you account for hfa.

This number won't go that low. Won't cross over critical number of 7.

Vegas is better than anyone. They're good at making money. Lines are usually very reliable.

That was my first thought, too. Which is why it scares me. Had it started at 6, I would have felt it was about right. 10 or 8 seems too much to start, TBH.

Obviously a lot can impact the outcome of a game and in college games unexpected stuff happens all the time. But a lot of work is done in their power ratings to get the most reasonable opening line possible, because they get taken to the cleaners otherwise.

Will, what is the most you've ever seen a line drop for a CFB game without something major happening (injury, suspension, coaching change)?

No need to.

But you asked the question of whether or not the lines have any relevance to the outcome?

Ideally, the odds makers want even action on the game - this works in a perfect world. Unfortunately, the betting work and public bettors along with sharps can overload them from time to time and sports books are betting just like many of us.

Same question I had to hcb, what do you think the line would be in Starkville?

Also, looking forward to the countdown.
