Miles and the running game

Lots of talk about spreading the field and the running game, more space etc. Miles does not necessarily gauge the success of the running game in terms of positive yardage or scores in the front half of games, to use a Milesism. To him it all comes down to the back end of the game, one of his most used terms. The running game is used only to wear down the opponent. Success is measured by defender hands on hips and lack of firing off the ball. TE is an extra OL and will never be a major part of the LSU passing game with an OC not named Crowton. The spread and space comes in the back half of the game like in Wisky game, once defenders are "worked over". This philosophy will give you 10-11 wins a year when coupled with a strong defense and will be a problem in 2-3 games a year. Coupled with a poor defense and it can lead to 4-5 losses a year. Sprinkle in explosive playmakers on special teams and defense like in 2011 and it can almost make you a NC. Overal a winning formula and almost guarantees a 10 win season which is the measuring stick for success with the current administration and a majority of the fan base. Mission accomplished!

Nice paragraph usage.
To sum up all of what you said...Miles will either out-athlete you with the 3 yards and a cloud of dust approach, or we are screwed.
Most of the time, our athletes are superior to our opponents, therefore we don't need a lot of innovation and game planning.

I'm really trying to gauge if this is some sort of flame or a positive analysis. We should be happy we have a formula that guarantees us 10 wins a year.

Most good teams will have a rotating Front Four. Fatigue will not be so much of a Problem.

One problem with your theory, Diggy. When LSU had the big arm last year they threw the ball more. In fact, we definitely lost the Ole Miss game because Miles didn't do what you say he always does.

That might be the most well reasoned explanation of Miles-Ball I've ever seen. Great job and thank you.

If you only win 10 games a season your likelihood of a NC or even an SECC (especially coming from the SEC west), is almost impossible.

Strong recruiting plus this philosophy = winning! Obviously, you have to have a deep, strong roster to accomplish it.

Possessing the ball early in games wears teams out more than run, run, pass, punt. The only reason we spread it against Wisconsin was because we were behind and tried running out of power formation for almost 3 quarters with no success...but to you we wore them down

This has worked well, obviously. There is one monkey wrench thrown into this philosophy: Texas A&M. With them in the SEC now, with the coach and his offensive philosophy, we may start losing too many skill position players to them to maintain our success. They are a bigger threat than Bama in this regard, and it will be interesting to see how it plays out over the next few years. If they show this year that the system still works without JFF,recruiting skill players becomes much harder. But, as always, I have faith in Les.

Sounds like the kind of offense that will get you embarrassed in a championship game.
