Is it just me or does everybody have a feeling that LSU is going to rack up over 200 yards rushing tonight since EP is back.....

I think we'll rack up over 200 yards because we're playing ULM.

If we run for 200 yards then we'll be 30 yards under our average for two games. Pocic is now the starter at Center. He'll sit this weekend because he needs to get healthy for the conference slate.
Porter is a good player. Pocic is better. When given an opportunity, he proved he's one of the Best 5 in Grimes' eyes.

I think that is debatable. Frankly we don't know who the better player is. I think Porter is the more natural center while Pocic is the better lineman, if that makes sense. Pocic's future is not at center IMO.

I think Porter is the better center. Pocic appears to be better suited for tackle and we'll see him road grading people in the future further away from the football!!!

Neither have been dominant!

You can only run so many reps a practice. To the SHSU game and maybe the same this week to a lesser degree the big majority of the reps have been in the passing game. But in the next 3-4 weeks the running game may start getting its share again. IMO there will be a significant improvement in the running game by the time LSU plays AU as more of it will be installed.

I agree with Tigger. Regardless, they are both in our top 7 OL's at this point. We need both.

I agree with your latter statement but disagree with the initial one. If you watched tape of our pass protection on the interior last year and you're saying that then it's difficult for me to take you seriously. Alexander and Turner were/are NFL OL starting caliber football players. Yet we routinely and regularly gave up middle pressure. Porter is extremely challenged by transmitting his knowledge of what defensive lineman are doing to him into the physical action required to stop it.
Translation: He may know the calls. But he can't execute.
If we cannot pass protect then we will not be effective. If you think Porter is serviceable in that department, then we agree to disagree. At the very best, one can say that Porter has an unlimited ceiling for improvement based on the tape. But saying he's superior is to ignore the way he played when we passed the ball.
I think Grimes can help improve him. But anything more than saying the jury is out on Porter is really stretching if not outright making it up as you go.

Surprisingly, ULM is rated the #9 rush defense in the country.

unsurprisingly, they played Wake Forest and Idaho. two teams ranked outside of the top 110 teams.

Hate to burst your bubble but Porter is the starting center for LSU. Always has been. But for his suspension he would have started the first two games. And where do you guys come up with this Pocic is better than Porter stuff from? Crazy talk.
He is a senior returning starter who is a Remington Award candidate. Do you really believe the precedent will be set by Miles that that type player loses his job after returning for his senior year?
It seems many on here have willed Pocic to have won the job over Porter. Miles has never come close to saying that. Porter was suspended the first two game. Pocic was the starter in his place. Now Porter is back and has claimed his rightful place in the starting lineup going forward. Some of you want to create another reality, but it just isn't real.
We should be celebrating the guy for returning for his senior year and being a Remington Award canditate, not trying to give his job away. Yet we want all of our juniors to pass up the NFL and return for the good of the team. Makes no sense.

Porter is a better center than Pocic, period. Pocic was never gonna start at center, Miles knew he was gonna sit Porter the 1'st 2 games all along. He didn't beat him out and he aint gonna. Pocic will play a lot as he is one of our better lineman and eventually will make a left tackle when Collins is gone. Might even be better at right guard than either of the 2 guys we play there but he is not a center.

If anyone saw Eliot last night and thinks he's a viable starting center after blowing up two separate drives and costing us on a personal foul penalty, nevermind constant pressure through the middle is not lucid.
If he is our starter we are in deep Doo Doo. But you guys tell me how great he played and how much improvement he's made since last year...
