Sorry, my context meter's been a little off since being accused of claiming Apple invented NFC.

No, because people don't give a frick about GMA or a mother fricking Quad HD display....
It's not about specs. Never once looked at my screen and thought it looked shitty or needed more HD.

Not that Google needs my advice, but the more Google starts to make things "Google" and not Android or HTC _____ or Samsung ____ or LG 3G with Quad HD Snapdragon, the more of the Apple crowd they'll steal.
Google appears to be moving more and more toward the simplicity and ease of use of Apple, while Apple seems to be mimicking what works for Google/Android.
But show a consumer a slick looking iMac vs. some Alien ware monstrosity, and they're taking the iMac. They don't give a shite about specs. I prefer Android at the moment, but Apple has user experience nailed and Google knows it.

This. All day.
They need to start making their own phones, and I'm not talking about this "contract the nexus out to ___ OEM" business. Or the google play editions.
Their needs to be a Google phone, with pure android and no carrier bloat ware.

I'm fine with Google phones by other manufacturers, but it needs to be predominately Google with less bloat.
The pure android experience is a good one, but I'm guessing 98% of Android users never see it.

IPhones have a great build quality but the software is too bland and limited/restrictive by Apple with a locked OS. Therefore I chose android that allows the user the power and control. Android is a very intuitive and multi-faceted OS that suits my taste for the savy, software privy community. I understand that not everyone fits that mold and that most women, nerds, and a handful of regular Joes prefer Apple. Nothing wrong with this.
There are Android phones on the market that trump the iPhone in hardware and are also on par with build quality. This is another reason android was an easy choice for me. Now, Apple making a 128GB model will help them, but those ridiculous prices won't. Another downfall to their line. They sure are proud of their shite.

technically 1+1 isn't a pure google phone but it doesn't contain bloat.
other than that, we have what..motoG, motoX, Nexus line and ...is that about it for pure vanilla android?

Totally agree.

Yeah, some people get a sense of it through roms or even using launchers to mimic android and cleaning out bloat, but obviously most people won't even do that.

I run nova launcher with textra. Even rooted that's what I do. However, I'm pretty bummed about the locked boot loader for att on the LG G3. Thinking about dumping this one for a T-Mobile version or just returning it and ordering the wife an iPhone and wait on the nexus.

I agree that their "tech specs" seem to be a little behind the curve, but are they even needed? No. Who needs 1080 on a 4.7" screen?? The materials and quality of manufacturing will always be superior, which is why I stay loyal.
The major disappointment for me was not starting the entry model at 32gb. That sucks, but, as others have said, they're in business to make money and are extremely successful at it. If you don't like it but something else.

They've never been ahead of the curve. They lead from behind. From the iPod to the iPad, Apple has been able to create markets where everyone else, even really big names, had failed.
Funny that the iPhone was left out of the discussion... There was nothing even remotely close to the original iPhone when it debuted

this is the one thing I don't like about apple vs the other guys. There isn't enough customization built into the phone/computer. I would argue though that before customization iOS > Android (what ever they call it).
IMO, apple usually leads in software (except customization), but I have always found hardware is lacking. Apple is so concerned about the look, you are stuck with a a set GB count, Ram count, Battery size, etc. For me to upgrade the memory on my Macbook pro I pry off the hard drive that is almost impossible, and you probably destroy the mother board in the process. Apple has made everything that only they can fix it. That is really annoying, but it makes them more $$$.

Well. I've seen the blue screen of death over the years so many times I doubt I could count them and so has every body else. That's how it got the nickname Blue Screen of Death, cause it was so common.
I've seen a kernel panic on a Mac once, MAYBE twice. In 10 years of using them.

same, only once did I have to replace the hard drive, for some reason it did it recently but continues to work without issue.
My first personal computer never had this issue to my memory, but maybe I just got lucky there.
