As usual, tremendous amount of misinformation. He was a multiple repeat offender, committed additional offenses while incarcerated, and violated his probation. His sentence is not unusually long for someone with his particular pattern of repetition and timing of his offenses/violations.

simply not true..he was a repeat offender, but the crimes were FAR from something that warranted 15 years...look at the numbers I posted from Florida corrections. And none, zero, not one, of his crimes were violent, he was basically a peeping tom (though from inside the house )

yes, he was a complete nut job, but the sentence he was given was way out of line and the attempt by the Baton Rouge DA to put him back in jail after serving 13 years showed she was as crazy as he was.

I was in Nashville for the Vandy game in 1997 when Cecil the Diesel broke his leg. I stayed at the team hotel and Cecil was in the lobby posing for pictures with anyone who wanted.

Horrible game. LSU beat Vandy 7-6.

In re Cecil (from Wikipedia):

College career
After sitting out his freshman year he began his football career at LSU in less than grand fashion, sitting out the first game of the season serving a suspension for breaking team rules. After this ignoble beginning, however, Collins compiled 596 yards in his first four games before breaking his leg in the game against Vanderbilt.

He was kicked off of the LSU squad before the start of his second season after having been twice arrested for illegally entering dwellings. He claimed he was sleepwalking and had no recollection of entering the girls' rooms. He received probation as his sentence and made a second attempt at college football at Division I-AA (FCS) McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana but violated his probation when he failed a drug screen and was kicked off of the McNeese squad as well.

NFL career
Collins was selected as the first pick in the fifth round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Dolphins out of McNeese State University by then coach-general manager Jimmy Johnson. He appeared in eight games in the 1999 season, accumulating 414 yards and two touchdowns.

Personal
On December 16, 1999, Collins committed burglary in Palm Trace Landings, an apartment complex in Davie, Florida. He admitted that he broke into the home of a married woman that he knew from the gym, but said he only wanted to watch her sleep. After conviction on the charge, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison on March 27, 2001 and released on May 1, 2013.

Collins was married in 2006 and has two daughters from a previous relationship.

Wow - I remember the Diesel, but it's been a while since I've seen those runs. He might have been the best ever. Somehow I have a feeling that we will see similar runs by Fournette - his body type and running style is similar to the Diesel.

Sorry bro but LF is not going to be like the Diesel. LF is faster and runs taller IMO. I could be wrong I guess.

Maybe Alley ran a little like he did once or twice. Maybe Ware had a game or two that almost compared to the Diesel but I doubt that there is anyone who has had a season comparable to his against top competition in this millennium thus far.

Of coarse there is one guy who has that ability and that guy plays for the Tigers right now. Hilliard just might put up a game or two that will remind us of Cecil before this year is done. If Kenny would start running like that he would be a first rounder.

For a few games at LSU, he looked better than any running back in COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY

I got goosebumps the first time I saw him run the ball for the Tigers. Never happened before, and hasn't happened since. I wish him the best, hopefully he learned his lesson and can get his life on track.

He let himself into more girl's apartments than he was charged. There were others that never made the papers or the charges but were reported. He was well known by everybody and it was no mystery who it was doing it.

I hope he has changed.

Wtf? Who picks up chicks while they're in prison? I mean, I thought there were tight restrictions on who they could talk to & for how long.

Between Cecil, RP, and Mathieu, life as an LSU fan can often be a kick in the nuts.

It wasn't just the south beach life. He was a sociopath long before that. When that reporter interviewed him in prison, he was still talking about what a "ladies' man" he was. Hopefully, marriage does him good. He was one of the most devastating high school players I ever saw.

I tell people that Fournette has surpassed him as the greatest high school back I've ever seen, but honestly, I've just been looking for a replacement for years.

He needs to be tied down in the bottom of a river somewhere. Zero reason for this loser to not be locked up like the animal he is.

I spoke to teachers whom had him while he was at Leesville; The guy was borderline special ed. We all know how he made it the LSU campus. Dinardo always said he would have been bashed for not recruiting him, so he rolled the dice. Nothing he did while at McNeese, LSU, Miami, and prison surprised the people who witnessed his actions off the football field.

People like him don't deserve second chances. He was a freak show.
