I live in Dallas and attend 1-2 games a year and always buy my tickets at the game outside the stadium. The only time I was unable to get tics to the game was in 2007 when Tim Tebow and Florida came to LSU. I ended up watching the game at a tailgate which was a pretty good experience. The last Bama game in Tiger Stadium, I purchase multiple sets of tickets improving my seat selections and reselling the others that I did not used. I spent $100 each for my 4 tickets with the best seats. I had other tics for $80 but the seats were not as good. I'm doing a double header this year with LSU/Bama on Saturday and saints/49'ers on Sunday. Same plan, no tics in hand, purchase on site.

What about the SRO tickets at the very top of the new addition?

I live in Fort Worth and have the same plan for MSU, Ole Miss, and Bama games. Never tried it before, this will be my first year outside the student section. Also my very cute girlfriend will be with me, she is my secret weapon for the older guys selling tickets.

To get tickets:

Buy a cheap van and stencil "Reaux Plumbing" on the side.

Pull up to the maintenance entrance at Tiger stadium and tell them,
"Saban clog the toilet again".
Have a plumbers helper or a cheap rodder. Look the part. Make sure your friends/helpers look the part.

Boom, your in.

I'm old and married and usually toting kids so I've never tried the game-day ticket purchase thing. Definitely start checking internet ticket exchanges…here, dandydon.com, lsusports.net, and the bama site.

I would highly recommend getting lower-bowl seats rather than upper deck seats, if at all possible. You don't want to just see the game, you want to HEAR the crowd.

Guys,

thanks for all of the really helpful posts. If all this friendliness is any indication of what we're in store for once we get there, I know it's going to be the time of our lives.

If any of you see some young guys walking around wearing BGSU gear flag us down - we'd love to talk, eat, and most importantly - drink with you!

I'm more of the thought that, if I'm coming all the way from Ohio, I'm going to have tickets in hand.

Maybe a good chance to get tix, but you're travelling a long way to risk that.

And mentioned above, if you need help convincing your buddies, send them this link...

I think it's a very good bet that LSU will be selling SRO tickets in the new SEZ Upper. You can always call the Athletic Ticket Office and ask when they will go on sale.

I would come with tix in hand if possible, as others have said that's a long way to travel. It will be worth it if you are making this a one-time thing. Tiger Stadium at it's best is an experience that will stick with you. It really does come alive. The tailgating is outstanding but being in that stadium (and as others have said, in the lower bowl) is not something you want to miss out on.

You will probably not be able to get a ticket on campus for under $800 a piece if you are even able to find one IMO.

I know it's already been said in this thread, but this is completely absurd.

If any of your friends are cheering for Bama, leave them in Ohio.

1. Wear BGSU gear

2. Stay in NOLA Friday night, hit up the quarter and Frenchman but don't party all night because you want to........

3. ...get to LSU's campus EARLY on Saturday. Trust me, if you wait until noon then you've wasted a good four hours. Things get ramped up a notch the final few hours of the day. Getting there early will allow you to walk around and really enjoy the beauty of the campus and the early smells of the grills before it gets crazy.

4. Walk around as much as you can. The tailgating goes on for miles in all directions. Definitely hit up the parade grounds, touchdown village and catch the band coming down the hill. Make sure you play a game of washers.

5. I know people have said different things about when to get tickets but if I were in your shoes id get tickets ASAP. It's a much better feeling when you're walking around with a strong buzz knowing that you already have your ticket in your wallet.

6. Get in the lower bowl if you can. The band and crowd are so much louder there. One possible exception would be the SRO tickets at the top of the new expansion. That seems like it would be an awesome experience for a big group at a fraction of the cost of a lower bowl ticket.

7. Make sure to come back on the Rant and post a detailed follow up if your experience.

I know my brother and I are dead-set on getting in. I'd be happy to pay anything $400 or less, but if it comes down to it I could fork over more.

Wait and get tickets right before the game. For some reason people get antsy and have to get tickets earlier. You'll save a ton of money by doing that. We had a group of four two years ago and got tickets right before the game for about $120 a piece and we all sat together in the lower bowl. Do not settle on tickets other than the lower bowl. There are always tickets to be had. Always! I never have tickets going to the games home or away and always pay less and have much better seats than any of my friends.

SVP LSU Vs Bama 2012

Id try to get the tickets earlier. You want to check out all the pre game festivities, not look for tickets. I sat in the upper deck last time we played Bama and I had great seats.

Wear BG colors and if you see a tall arse ugly building on Campus called Kirby Smith, stop by. That is where we tailgate and my cousin that lives in Ohio will probably be in for the game. You will be treated well!

Since you're coming all this way, I STRONGLY urge you to consider going to the SAINTS/49ers game the next day at noon in the Superdome, if you're in any shape! That will be a great, great atmosphere too.

It's a 1.25-hour drive to the Superdome down I-10.
