My lab has allergies that make his throat sore and he doesn't want to eat when it happens. If he continues to not have an appetite, get him checked. In the short term, a scrambled egg and/or some grated cheese on his food will make it more palatable.

add a little of your human food with it

especially if you have some soups, the juice will get them to nibble a little more.

Give him a benzo. Valium is good.

My dog has been eating a lot less this summer. Talked to the vet, sounds like it's more of a heat issue. She doesn't appear to be losing weight, but she'll skip a meal here and there.

Same. I was concerned for a while, but she's eaten the past 3 days, so I think it's okay.

So I was finally able to find something last week that makes my dog eat his food whenever I want. He has already put on about 3-4 pounds.

It's called Stella and Chewy's. They're dog biscuit meal replacements made from dehydrated meat. They have venison, rabbit, chicken, lamb, and a salmon and beef mix. Since they are made almost entirely from meat and vegetables, they have a very distinct smell and taste that he enjoys. All you have to do is break up a quarter to half a biscuit and mix it in with your dog's food and you are good to go (it crumbles almost immediately so it mixes very well).

Hope this can help out anybody that has the same problem

My dog will eat the same food for awhile, then her tastes will change. Makes sense though, I wouldn't want to eat chicken for every meal for 5 years

Yeah I have started changing it up for mine as well. These things I got help a ton because he thinks he's getting a treat every time he eats a meal

If he isn't eating he isn't hungry.

He wouldn't eat for a day at a time. Pretty sure it was effects from the stress, not a lack of appetite. Either way my vet told me he needs to gain at least 5 pounds to be at a healthy weight with as much exercise as he gets, and adding 10 pounds is ideal

This, besides it's summer time and they tend to loose weight due to the heat.

Not eating for a day really isn't that big of a deal for a dog. If I had to guess your dog is probably just getting in good shape if he exercises a lot. I've never seen a dog that works hard and doesn't eat enough to keep himself healthy. With most breeds, the last two ribs being visible is still in good working shape.

You could get some stuff geared towards working dogs. Be careful though because if he doesn't burn most of it, he'll get fat quick.

I already picked something up that's worked really well the past week or two.

He underwent a big move a couple months ago and hadn't ate much for a while. It wouldn't be such a big deal but he runs about 4 miles a day so I didn't think it was healthy to only eat one bowl a day

Cook some white rice and non seasoned ground meat and add it to the dog food. Then phase it out over a week.

This is likely what's going on. It's hot outside. Nobody likes to eat out in the heat of summer. Nobody likes to eat right after a long run either. If you are really worried about the dog, take him to the vet and get him checked.

Drive him with you up to north Baton Rouge one evening. Find the most strung-out, broke-down, skinniest crack whore working the street. Pay her to strip butt naked and get down on all fours. Then take your dog out of the truck, lead him up to the whore, and tell him, "Do you see that? That's exactly what you're going to look like if you don't start eating that Ol' Roy's I've been feeding you!"
