Really? They have no legal right to detain him. And then proceed to beat the shite out of him. And then when he tried to fight back continue to assault him. And then when he was clearly incapacitated continued to violently assault him.

Those two cop wannabe's are going to get reamed by a lawyer and wal-mart is gonna cut a check.

You really think whatever worthless wal-mart crap that punk stole was worth that?

this is what i'm thinking as well.

Do Wal-Mart security guards just wear jeans, tshirts and baseball hat? No uniform?

I think it counts as a citizen's arrest, which is legal

Not sure where this took place but, for any LA folks thinking about this, you can only "Citizen's Arrest" for a felony. Here is some sage advice, if someone isn't getting killed by someone else, stay out of it and be a good witness. The ONLY time I would get involved, and it would have to be for someone who obviously isn't a scumbag, would be to stop someone who was straight killing them right then and there.

As someone said before, what could he have possibly stolen from a WALMART that was worth what just happened?

In most states security gaurds hold a "peace officer license" amd can restrain and arrest perps. They did the right thing here and will not be charged.

He was resisting then pulled out a box cutter and stabbed a guy. Thats attempted murder and self-defense. How are the security guys going to jail?

He was "resisting" arrest from someone who didn't even have the power to arrest him. He is "security", meaning he calls the police after he gets the guys numbers down. Instead, he and another guy straight up beat the shite out of the "perp".
How would the other guy even know they were security, they were dressed in normal street clothes?

I am not sure what legal action will be taken, but even if that guy did steal from walmart, they will be paying him big money because these guys tried to act like cops.

I really have no sympathy for the thief. I could give a frick if he got his arse beat. Glad he did honestly.

But WalMart doesn't want their employees following thieves to the parking lots. It's been stated many times in similar situations.

You just know security looking at your arse.I've always hoped they'd stop me for suspicion one day.

How would people react if the shoplifter being "detained" was black?

It is like this with any corporation.
Worked retail one summer in high school, we were told all we could do is call the cops if we saw someone steal. And if they were in the store, all we could do is use certain words to tell them we see them stealing. Couldn't even accuse them.

Worked at chilis a while ago also. Someone skipped out on the bill, couldn't even stop them. Just have to let them walk out the door.

Can you just imagine if you are one of the Walton clan sitting in your office and see this on YouTube?

My first thought, how much did these two asshat's just cost me?
