Why does everyone assume that McEvoy sucked when discussing how we won?

Every pass the kid threw seemed to be highly accurate, up until we were within 3 points and he actually had pressure on him to win the game (last 3 drives they had the ball, he did wig out a bit).
Our DBs were a big factor in their lack of a pass game. Even the announcers were saying they weren't bad passes, the receivers were just blanketed.
The pass rush was fine once we started blitzing. Our pass rush was expected to be lackluster outside of Hunter. So why are people thinking we got lucky that McEvoy sucked, when really we outplayed them the entire second half (the entire game if talking about DBs)?
Again, the pass rush is fine, we blitz a ton anyway usually. We didn't get lucky, we woke the hell up as a team and a coaching staff.
Side note: That is my one pet peeve with this team since Miles has been around (and my only problem with him)... Adjustments are typically made at halftime. Very rarely do we see mid drive formation or scheme adjustments.

He had a couple of nice scrambles in the first half as well. He's not as bad as he looked, but still a below average quarterback at this level for sure.

He was pretty awful. Either he screwed up, or the receivers ran the wrong routes. The balls he threw were in different zip codes.

I dont consider passes that skip to receivers and passes thrown 30 yards beyond the receiver to be highly accurate

I agree. I thought he was putting the ball in there pretty tight on the short to medium routes. Our DBs were playing tight and aggressive and he still got passes in.

quote:even early in the game he had several throws that he just blindly threw down field and no one was there. I can be kinda pessimistic while watching the tigers, but even I was like this guy has no chance to consistently complete passes. He was/is bad. I don't know how you can watch that game and not say he is a bad passing QB.

Goes to show you that two people can watch the same game and see things totally different.

Because he does?

If Stave was healthy he would have played

No matter who we beat there is always an excuse. He was decent in the first half but the 4th quarter was a different story. Our team fought back and won a game that many thought was over at 24-7.

Coaches who are always tweeking are usually losers , some coaches broil and burn out ! Coach miles barbeques that takes time and comes out right !

I agree it was a combo of him not being great, and out CB being all over their WRs (in a legal manner)

That guy was pretty horrible not in sync with his receivers at all maybe except that one slant pass

He just made an absolutely terrible throw for a pick today. Had a receiver open and threw a flailing duck that let the safety get to it. Against WIU for godsake.
