Will you be going tomorrow? I've never been to an Islamic service...

Yeah I'll be there. Gonna stay for the funeral too
I've never been to one either
Surprised how quickly they are having all this.

I believe it's so they can get his body back to Pakistan in time.

That makes sense. I think his dad lives there still.

4 pages in and this thread garnered the responses I just about expected.

If you were friends with him, perhaps find a way to share pictures you have of your time with him. Nothing thatt would offend them, but something that showed he will be remembered by you. And more importantly something they add to their memories.

Muslim funerals, or at least the gifting portions, are similar to those of Jews. Friends and neighbors are expected to feed the family while they mourn. Not sure if they do the whole week thing or not.
My Christian family does this as well. Also have Mennonite family, much different ceremony, but yes offerings of food are very much appreciated, as the family is in grieving, and doesn't have time to prepare meals.
Also shows that you care, and provides interactions and condolences.

Just showing up at the funeral and giving your condolences in person is all you need to do. Family members bring food but since you are not in that category, you can just show up. Depending on the persons country/culture things can vary but just visiting with then is the most important thing.

It actually wasn't that bad. Nothing was missing.

The majority of whom are Christians who probably clamor about people not respecting their religion enough.

This thread is very disappointing. Any time a person puts on here that they are sick or that someone close to them has died, it's a "prayers sent" fest. But since this guy happened to be Muslim, we are going to shite all over the people that cared about him. Some of you should be ashamed...but thats asking too much of the OT.
