I think about this every time hurricane season comes around and I think about FEMA. There's disaster relief for everything. Is that a right? If you don't have insurance, then should you be responsible for the situation you are in? I know for sure there'd be outrage if it didn't exist, but is it really a right.

I remember being at LSU for Gustav and some friends went get FEMA EBT cards for like $100. Their reasoning was that they lost over $100 in groceries. I thought it was shitty. You lost food, but the government doesn't owe that food to you. That's just life.

There is nothing in the constitution that guarantees you that right unless your property has been unreasonably seized by the government.

You are protected from this via the Fourth Amendment.

That's our govt's bare bone function. Our "social contract". Unfortunately our gov has lost it's way.
