All joking aside, Russia is seeming to outright invade Ukraine, BOLD-FACED LIE about it to the international community despite overwhelming evidence, and suffer no meaningful consequences that it seems to GAF about. Sanctions hurt Russia's economy, and Putin's popularity increases.

Do we let Ukraine fall? Some of it (Crimea)? More of it (Donetsk/Luhansk/Mariupol)? All of it (see Putin's comments today re: taking Kiev in 2 weeks if he wanted to)?

Ok, so say we do nothing, since Ukraine =/= NATO. What happens when they frick with Lithuania? I mean what REALLY HAPPENS...not "that's arse cause NATO herp derp!!". These frickers are armed with a frickton of nuclear weapons, and appear to be emboldened, isolated, and crazy. No matter how much we have in terms of military might, if we can't stop nukes from vaporizing western and/or American cities, then what good is a bunch of tanks an. Aircraft carriers? I'm not sure Russia's current regime is concerned about MAD.

Seriously...if Russia outright fricks with NATO (e.g. invades the Baltics to "protect ethnic Russians from persecution"), what is the immediate response from NATO and the West? From China?

What would a Russia vs. NATO war look like? Nuclear or conventional?

Would Russia have any allies in a war against NATO?

It's looking more like the only reset button Russia is interested in is the button that resets civilization.

Putin is just taking advantage of Obama's "flexibility" he was telling them about.

Dude, calm down. If you think Russia isn't concerned with mutual assured destruction in the case of nuclear war then you are being overwhelmed with sensationalist thinking.

The first thing we do is laugh our opponent off stage when he states that Russia is our top enemy in 2012, then we fast forward 22 months and wonder what the hell is going on.

This has been in the works for several years and all of the top people that walk around with heir heads out if their asses knew this then. The answer lies with the intelligence community and away from this current administration. "We" can't do anything about the situation but voice our opinions at the pills every time an incumbent is up for re-election. "We" had our chance in 2012 and failed miserably.

According to one Fla State fan on this board, asurob1, the only sensible thing to do is surrender to Russia.

It's football season, I'm preoccupied right now. Obama and his crew got this. I told him to let me know if he needs my opinion.

Realistically? We can't do a whole lot because neither the US nor the EU has the inclination to go on a war-footing with Russia and geography is not on Ukraine's side in thwarting a Russian invasion.

The best that might happen may be supplying the Ukraine with weapons to lengthen the invasion and/or make it a pyrric victory for Russia by going scorched-earth on the port facilities and the Black Seas Fleet. Might be a good time to "lose" a bunch of Exocet anti-ship missiles in the area of the Bosporus.

If Russia wants Ukraine, they're going to get Ukraine. It's a question of how much damage they're going to take to get it, though.

Let the country crumble on its own bc on the path it is on that's whats going to happen.

Also no matter who was our president in these current times and current options to lead the country, Putin would do the same thing regardless.
