Was I the only one who noticed how leaned down he looked?
I have to believe it had everything to do with a pep in his step too.

he said he lost weight in the off season

he looks lean and strong and ready for a breakout year

thought he looked lean and quicker
seems like T Magee looked more bulked up. Not out of shape just bulked up. I guess 4-5 years of the weight room.

I tried to tell y'all how good he had gotten but no one listened.
"We hear this every year and it's never true"
smh
Trust in Hilliard

yes, he looked a lot leaner and a step quicker. last year he played "soft" and was hesitant to hit the line at full speed. last night he was much more aggressive.

I don't see why everyone is praising him. He only broke 3 decent runs, and those 3 runs it was all oline & play call, any other one of our running backs would of done the same if not more.
I thought he looked sluggish and was hitting the hole soft, Magee and Fornette looked much quicker and were actually running downhill.

i love the old trope "RB stops being fat load, has breakout season"
Cracks me up, but it happens a lot.

Honestly, I thought he was playing soft to start the game but the flip did switch at some point and he finished the game like a man possessed

Congratulations, you're very suited to be a high school English teacher.

We had good EZ field level of holes and back vision... Hilliard was seeing holes. Magee had none. And buga missed every one he had on KOReturns and rushes...

You can easily see why Hilliard had success while LF did not. It was the same story that was told when Magee broke out. Both Terrance and Kenny started to run vry descisively. The Hilliard lost that burst going through the OL for whatever reaswon while Magee was like a breath of fresh air to see running thru the holes with great accel.
On the flip side, Leonard could always have patience in HS and stretch plays out to his eventual advantage because he was a man among boys. Now that he is a Tigers, that won't happen any more though. He will still have the ability to make great plays but once he slows down, the guys coming after him will wrap him up.
So finally, last night we saw LF getting keyed on and Wiscy did exactly what they planned to do when he was on the field. It was a tough situation for him but I have to think that the only thing that he could have done is put his head down and just try to burst through some of those defenders instead of trying to side step them.
I am not really sure what was up with TM18. I have to think that Wiscy was just keying in on the run and knew that he was our most productive back from last season.
Kenny looked like he did as a freshman and reminded me of what we all saw in his recruiting videos. I really love seeing Hilliard run like that and after last year I really hope that he will have a great money year this season.

LF looked to me like he needed to bring his effort up a notch or two---this ain't high school!

Jakeyura do you know what it means to run down hill?

Hilliard looked good. He is in shape and is ready to go. Magee and Fournette had nowhere to go early on. Glad to see Hilliard in playing shape. We will need them all before the year is over.

Yeah. I saw LF picking up 3-5 on runs that should have been a yard loss. I saw Hilliard getting no yards after contact.
Any rb on the roster could have ran through those holes the way Hilliard did in the fourth quarter.
It was 100% the scheme change that caused those runs. We went in spread and they brought in nickel personnel, and dropped their safeties back. Then it was all Oline.

This is something you should have learned in 5th grade.

but Hillard did show a lot more burst than he has in past seasons and ran hard. Give credit where credit is due. But yes, once Fornette gets the system and speed of the game down a little better, I think he explodes through those types of holes for even bigger yardage. That day will soon arrive.

Brisket Hilliard did very well
Fatty brisket is damn good, but Lean Brisket is much better for you.
