I saw the entire video about six months ago and the only way to free him was to separate him from his shoot. It did not end well for him.

no its not. Not if you were a paratrooper.

Quick glance indicates he is being towed by a misrouted static line under his pack tray (why static line control as you exit is critical - he probably had too much slack). The worst situation imaginable with the exception of a mid air entanglement at less than 500 feet AGL with a steerable parachute (MC-1 or MC-6). Fortunately he went off the ramp (a door jump would have beaten him against the side of the aircraft).
Only two actions for the jumpmaster - retrieve him in the aircraft (it did not appear the aircraft had that capability) or have the pilot gain altitude, ensure he is conscious and able to deploy his reserve and cut his static line. Considering how much he spun, he may be conscious but not able to react when cut free.
Horrible, horrible situation to be in.
ETA: Fortunate he was not hit by jumpers who followed after him. Could have killed or seriously injured either of them and knocked him loose without his main parachute deploying.

That guy had to be incredibly disoriented with all that spinning. Would love to know what they tried to Save this guy.

What he went through is not funny at all. The phrase "Mexican Paratrooper" is hilarious.

Gets my vote for a-hole comment of the day.

Only two courses of action.
Use the static line retrieval system (mechanical system that parallels the anchor line cable on certain high performance aircraft) and bring the jumper back in.
Gain altitude, ensure the jumper is alert and oriented (incredibly difficult in this situation) and cut the obstruction (either equipment or static line - in this instance he is being towed by his static line) so the jumper can fall free and employ his reserve parachute.
A nightmare for all involved.

What if neither are an option?

With CE, yes. Without CE, mid air entanglement.
I always perform a diagonal slip with T series or hard turn with MC series. Want to be out of the "stick" path as soon as possible. Could care less where the parachute turn in point is. I can walk to it when I get to the ground.

Last option (and this is an option), they can land the jumper on the ground after appropriate measures are put in place on the landing strip/airfield (foam, etc). Would probably cut him loose as soon as he began sliding on the surface.
Would hate to think of this happening to anyone.

Yeah, frick that. Just cut me loose and end it quick
Hopefully I'd remain unconscious all the way down.

I hear ya brother. The jumper appeared to be alert (his head and neck remained rigid and he did not make contact with any fellow jumpers - a very good sign). My only concern is if he is still oriented. His hands (appeared) to remain on his reserve the entire time (which is also a good sign) so once he feels himself fall free he can immediately employ his reserve.
