How does the OT feel about this?

quote:

A city-parish ordinance that prohibits residents from keeping firearms in their parked cars while they’re inside establishments that sell alcohol is unconstitutional and can no longer be enforced, a federal judge ruled Monday.

Chief U.S. District Judge Brian Jackson found the ordinance runs afoul of the Second Amendment.

Ernest Taylor challenged the ordinance, 13:95.3, in federal district court last September after he was pulled over in October 2012 while leaving Romeo’s Lounge because he didn’t have his headlights on. He was arrested after three rifles were found in his car. The firearms were seized by Baton Rouge police.

Taylor, who had no prior felony convictions, alleged the ordinance conflicts with a 2008 Louisiana law that permits firearms in locked vehicles in “any parking lot, parking garage, or other designated parking area.”

Good.

I keep a gun in my truck because it is a farm tool. I shouldn't have to take it out because I'm going have supper with a girl in BR

I don't get why this would be illegal. Pretty much creates a firearm ban since damn near every establishment sells alcohol in some form.

Romeo's lounge doesn't seem like a "rifle" in the car kind of place. I would have expected a more urban weapon of choice.

I didnt know this was an ordinance. It was likely against the Louisiana constitution as well.

How was it enforced anyway? Get in a fight in a bar and then the police search your vehicle? Sounds like some feel good legislation. Good ruling by the judge.

Crappy little cities like New Orleans, Chicago, and Baton Rouge that take it upon themselves to rewrite the Constitution because their residents lack the testicles to control their crime problem should be put in their place.

Thank you.
