God what rocks are these people crawling out from under.

Repeat after me. ISIS or whatever they are calling themselves this week.

No threat to the United States.

None.

They are repugnant and should be put down like the animals they are.

But they aren't a threat to us.

You guys crack me up.

First you post this:
quote:

They could never do any damage here. Don't believe me just listen to some of these geniuses on this board. I repeat Isis poses no threat to the US or our interests

Then somebody says:
quote:

eep reading and watching whoever is feeding you this stupid shite. These are a bunch of desert cowboys with less arms than the state of Mississippi. They picked up some leftover U.S. shite. No helicopters, navy, tanks, jets, or missiles of any kind. Yeah, very heavily armed.

And you reply:
quote:

You don't know what you are talking about and you don't mind showing everyone your ignorance. But please continue to act like an arse, it is most entertaining.

So which is it? Are they not a threat or what? Maybe not us directly, but to our interests? Absolutely.

If anyone's ready to take a break from the typical squabbling, here are two interesting reads from a Turkish website.

ISIS knew a raid was coming because American agents, presumably CIA, were spotted working sources in Turkey. Interesting if true. LINK

Syria allowed and encouraged ISIS to grow as a diversion, in order to make it more difficult for the democratic Syran opposition, and now presents itself as a "reasonable" alternative to Islamic extremism. Middle Easterners are way too devious for us. We should let the Brits handle our foreign policy in that part of the world They somewhat understand them. LINK

There are some very shortsighted people on here. In case some of you haven't noticed, warfare isn't conventional anymore. Just because someone doesn't have a Navy capable of pulling into San Fran Bay or fly birds over our cities they aren't a threat.

Also might want to take note that they've been kicking Iraq's and Syria's arse all over the desert, two countries that were trained and supplied by the world's two super-powers.

Also, more importantly is that they are making MILLIONS A DAY on oil. They can buy whatever they want.

Lol. You can't takedown a heavily defended airport with a small team of CCTs bruh. It's an infantry mission.

But they are airfield seizure

That is their primary job. But yea they would have a couple attached to a Ranger unit. Take the airfield the CCT's call in who ever to land and then AF Security forces act like they took the airfield.

No, they really can't- one-- its hard for them to sell the Oil-- hell, look at how hard its been for the Kurds to sell their oil and everyone outside of the Middle East and Turkey loves the Kurds; two-- how are they going to buy say fighter aircraft? Whose going to sell them some-- the Russians (nope they back Syria), the Chinese (nope, ditto); the US (nope, we don't do that now that Reagan's gone)?

ISIS fighters have now captured the SA-16 MANPADS, Russian SAMs, and MiG-21B jets that were stored at Tabaqa Airbase.

I don't know how you can say there's no threat.

Head-in-sand!

Buddy, it's foolish to underestimate the power of religious motivation...and...MONEY. Hell, I could take what they have right now a wreck utter havoc on this Nation. Not big scale complex stuff...but small scale on a co-ordinated large scale.

We had better respect this bunch, or we'll be sorry.

Do they have trained combat pilots?

Do you think they would even leave the ground with US air presence in the area?

They took Al Sahra in June, brah - a 9600 and 7200 foot strip.

Plus they executed all the Iraqi Air Force Cadets - as that was the home of the Iraqi Air Force Academy before and after the U.S. occupation.

Oh stop using logic.

We would know in a matter of seconds if one of those migs took off.

Guess what, there isn't a plane that takes off in Iraq that we don't know about. This little fun storyline doesn't mean a whole lot other than possible problems getting aid flown in or some shite like that.

How comforting.
Yeah! There isn't a terrorist that goes into Boston that the NSA doesn't know about. There isn't a person from the ME that we don't know about when they walk across the border.
