Does anyone know of of maybe heard of a situation where someone didn't get a job because the company they applied to knew they posted on here and checked their post history? Is having a TD account like having another other kind of Social media in the sense that you have to monitor what you post because it could affect you on the long run?

How the hell would they know that?

Did you put it on your resume somewhere?

Have you ever read anything on the OT? Because we arent all unemployable fatasses.

Though Trill stands no shot at being employed in a field which requires him to work around women alone.

I know all public sector jobs require blog post full disclosure prior to hiring...

it is a lot more anonymous than regular social media...and I think it would be tough to check out someone's post history if they were just applying for a job...

now, a good number of folks have posted inappropriately here and had their job/life affected after someone figured out who they were....

moral of the story is, when you do some stupid shite online, the risk remains long after you forget about it...

I'll say that I've helped someone get a job after them mentioning they were looking for one. Their post history seemed OK and reasonable.

Others I've not provide insight or contact info for after looking at their post history.

I believe that the general rule of thumb is that it only hurts if you put that you're Tier 3 or lower on your resumé. If that applies, just keep that section blank.

Keep online separate from reality, and you'll be fine. No IRL meetups, minimize the personally identifiable information you post. AFAIK, only one other person on TD knows who I am, and I intend to keep it that way.

Employers are very impressed with a high TD post count. It's really the only reason have a post count that high.

Technically yes but in reality no. First of all if you do post on here don't be stupid enough to use your real name.
Second your potential new employer has to know that you post here and how would they know.

Unless you're using something like Facebook (in which you likely use a name that is identifiable) and posting something controversial I wouldn't worry about it.

Just common sense when you post. If you use an alternate name just be aware that it's still possible to figure out who you are by your writing style. Change it up some.

Is that the world we're looking for, and do I really want to work for someone who wants to track my personal posting on the internet?

The only reason I post online is so that I cannot be judged for ignorance and assholery.

Probably, just don't post anything online you would be embarrassed to see your name next to.
