If it is shown through ballistics and so forth that is is likely the cops side of the story reported yesterday is true, that he was rushed and shot in self defense, does it even matter?

Narrative appears to have been set to me. Unarmed black teen shot by white cop. I don't think the people currently "demonstrating", rioting and looting care much about anything or are going to see things any differently no matter what the evidence shows.

Meaning, if everything points towards the cop not being indicted, expect more and bigger problems.

Well that's a given.

Holder is going to force this man to be indicted and tried, and guilt or innocence have nothing to do with it. FIFTY FBI agents?

to the emotional-irraitonal? no

just like with trayvon. they believe a narrative and that's all they will accept. their self-delusion is that both were murdered without provocation in cold blood

every time one of these memes emerge, you get to see the full display of irrationality and emotional thinking on full display in real time

they are just trying to engage the cops and pick fights to prove points. the fricking media (CNN in particular) is even doing this

If you think things are bad now, just sit back right easy and laugh if this cop gets exonerated. Why do you think Holder is there? He's making damn sure anything that clears the policeman is swept under the rug.

Agreed, but I don't think it's because of any narrative. Had the police been a little more forthcoming with info from the start, some of the negative sentiment would have been abated. The local police have created their own narrative which has caused a lot of the animosity. At this point, there's no reasonable outcome to this.

Simple. He is there to protect the rights of the rioting animals. No reason to worry about the rights of the law abiding police officer that did his job and came home to his family.

oh the cops fricked up no doubt, but they were basically trying to collect evidence in the 1-3 days after the shooting

the standard these irrational-emotional thinkers desire is insane and who would be disproportionately affected if this were the standard? THEM

He's had several Katrinas. This one has simply taken everbody's attention away from the soup sandwich at the southern border.

At this point, no. Had they been more forthcoming with information on the investigation, they may have earned the public's trust. But not now.

which information, exactly?

the autopsy wasn't done (And isn't really something that should be released in light of a criminal investigation) yet

Holder is there to look after the rights and recovery of the innocent shop owners whose businesses were trashed and looted by a lawless, criminal horde.

That is why I am in favor of the independent and outside special prosecutor being named - assuming that he/she can remain unbiased.

I tend to disagree. I think the narrative was set when the friend gave his account (shot in the back, trying to surrender) and after that nothing else has or will matter.

Which is why I asked yesterday if the friend could be prosecuted if he gave materially false and misleading statements in a homicide investigation.

How many times he was shot. The chief was evasive when asked this question. Who the shooter was. There we no press conferences. Even if you can't release specific info, you need to hold regular press conferences on an event of this magnitude. They released the burglary video at the same time they released the cop's name....they appeared to "protect their own" first and foremost in this whole thing. In fact, it looked like it was cops vs. citizens for several days.

Fair enough. I think locally that may be true. I was thinking more nationally.

Yes, clearly this is the police's fault. Had they taken CNN's approach and put out half-truths immediately without due diligence this all could have been averted.
