Sterling really got screwed in this process.

a really rich guy wanted to own a team as a toy so he way overbid his competitors, I don't think it will over inflate the values of other teams.
My first mind also said that it was a unique set of circumstances, but I'm not too sure. Especially as some of these owners (who are in no way interested in selling) get up there in age and their wives/kids take over.
There are more billionaires looking for toys now than ever in American history.

I think the NBA players will be using this and the sale of the Bucks as ammo come next CBA. The owners can no longer say they are losing money when teams are being sold for over half a billion dollars.

Thought it was just him owning a team... Oh well. I would buy all tickets so nobody can go to games then.

Banning him for life was pretty bad

Well, it was pretty bad. The league is what 90% black? They kind of had no choice. Had he said it about Mexicans, it probably would have just got him suspended.

I still hate the fact that a bunch of butt hurt people can force a man to sell something he rightfully owns

Nobody has the right to own an NBA franchise. That is a privilege that he lost.

never mind, this thread isn't about that..

Bet the biding legal documents say otherwise

He bought it with his money. He did nothing illegal. He should still own the team.
ETA: And this will be my only post on the matter. I have no intentions of arguing this for the rest of the day

Within an association.

Yup. Not denying that.
And then he subsequently acted enough of a fool that he jeopardized the image of the NBA. Therefore his team was taken away from him.
The Clippers were never his private property. His actions affect other league owners. Hence "National Basketball ASSOCIATION"

Any plans to move up to Washington?
Would be pretty stupid to move a team out of one of the largest sports markets to Seattle.

This. Once corporate sponsors started ending their sponsorships with the Clippers, it was just a matter of time.

Not an LA expert, but aren't the Clippers still the undercard in town?
NW Washington is a pretty good-sized market with a lot of fans and a good bit of money.

I know right? That guy just can't catch a break.

Historically, yes. Pedigree/history-wise, absolutely.
Currently, though, they are the undisputed basketball draw in the town. They're a legitimate Western Conference power and a threat to win the conference year in and year out while the Lakers have struggled to even make the playoffs of late.
