True. But no one thinks Justin Bieber, Paris Hilton, Bernie Madoff or Chris Cristie speaks for whites "in general."
Are you saying that Blacks should be judged collectively by the lowest common denominator (eg. drug dealers and gang gangers, welfare queens, etc.), but White folks shouldn't?

Because the black community blames white people for all of their problems.

This is so overblown...

Uhm, no?

Is it not OK to bash a group of people for the type of behavior we are seeing in Ferguson?
Is my "white guilt" supposed to have me wringing my hands and feel sorry for them that they feel like they have no other recourse other than to loot?
Not happening.
It is what it is. It is destructive, nonsensical lawlessness perpetrated by despicable human beings that are doing nothing but hurting their own cause. That is, those that actually have a cause, and not the opportunistic thieves.
Their looting only serves the purpose of alienating those that would otherwise share their outrage. The police state is a serious concern for a lot of Americans, but we don't get the opportunity to join them in their outrage because their looting and rioting. It makes rational people say "screw those idiots."
Sure but if you're going to call an entire group of people out based on the actions of a few then the opposite is fair as well--- for instance all the white people who protest the at the holding centers for immigrant children-- why do all white people want to lynch children?
Now, you could say that's an unfair generalization and a massive exaggeration of what they want (both of these are true- for example, I'm white and I don't want to lynch children) but at the same time you seem to be okay with that regarding other groups.

What? I know the point you're trying to make. Assuming anyone has labeled all black people as prone to looting, that'd be ridiculous. I haven't seen anyone do that.
But looting is illegal and destructive. Somehow you're equating protesting an illegal immigrant crisis, which most reasonable people agree is at least arguably worthy of concern, with lynching children? WTF?

Yeah it would be interesting to see a racial incident where the community says "we don't want Sharpton in our town. We'll take Harold Ford Jr."
That would be comical. I kind of feel sorry for these folks of the deceased b/c they are just sheep following the masses and doing what everyone else wants them to do.
And yes, violence is a great way to illicit sympathy from the community. Works every time

And the family has been pretty good about calling for non-violent protests.

After reading this OP, I came to the realization that one of the most advantageous aspects of white privilege is that I don't have to speak for all white people, or be outraged for all white people, or be seen as a discredit (or credit) for all white people. If a bunch of white thugs launder money for violent drug dealers or if a white guy shoots up an abortion clinic - no one's gonna say "Hey TUba, where's your outrage that your white breathren did this?" When I got my PhD, no one said "Hey, TUba! You're a credit to the white race!" I was a credit to me and my family - not all whites!

FWIW I've never heard another black person refer to AL Sharpton or Jesse Jackson as leader.
why are they at the front and center of these "controversies" every time then? every time we have one of these they both end up as the mouthpiece of the family.

I've never met a black person who said they were a leader.
Another good thing about white privilege is no one judges me by what Rush Limbaugh says.

if that is the case then why are they always a representative of the family when there is a black crisis?

You seriously don't understand the outrage over an unarmed kid getting killed by a police officer?
Kid? He was no kid. He was a giant.
BTW, now "the black community" is complaining there are only 3 blacks on the town's police force out of 53 officers and acting like that's proof the police force is a bunch of white racists.
However, they fail to mention that most blacks don't want to have anything to do with supporting the police including be police officers.

Martin Luther King in Harper's Magazine in 1961:
"Do you know that Negroes are 10 percent of the population of St. Louis and are responsible for 58% of its crimes? We've got to face that. And we've got to do something about our moral standards. We know that there are many things wrong in the white world, but there are many things wrong in the black world, too. We can't keep on blaming the white man. There are things we must do for ourselves."
Sure do miss the days when black leaders had brains and integrity.

Looks like another peaceful protester was shot last night.

Police said they received a call reporting about four to five men in the area armed with shotguns and wearing ski masks. They also got reports of shots fired in the area. Police officers arrived and saw "multiple subjects running," said police spokesman Officer Brian Schellman.
An officer approached one of the men and he pulled a handgun on the officer who then fired, Schellman said.
Police said they recovered the handgun at the scene. The man was taken to a hospital.

He clearly didn't understand the plight of black men in America as well as some of the posters here.
