So you're hypothesis is you're just an a-hole until you win a ring. At which point you become an inspirational a-hole to your teammates. Sounds legit.
Nah, it's more like if you're gonna be an a-hole, then you better be an a-hole leader.
Just a personal theory.

jeremy lin is the fricking man. the LINSANITY documentary shows that he is cool as shite, he dunks on his mom in the offseason, and everyone loves him. frick yeah.

Leadership can come from other sources on a team, but do the rockets have leadership? All these reports seem like its leaning towards no. You're basing that off a foreign radio interview with a benchwarmer? C'mon brah. DM is looking for playing time and he's not getting those minutes in HOU.
Then who on the Rockets tema do you think is a leader. Throwing out D-Mo's comments doesn't change the fact that the Rockets don't have any leadership from it's players.

Lin really seems like a down to earth dude, tbh. Not full of himself in the least. I appreciate and respect that about him.
Although I wanted him gone at the end of the season, I always respected him for this. If not for having Caanan behind him, I would have enjoyed having him back this year

Look man, Howard was never the leader on the Magic... Ever.
You want Howard to be something he is not. This is par for the course behavior from Howard.

Sorry, just an a-hole. There were other sources of "inspiration" on those teams
No.

So what? Teammates don't have to have circlejerks together. Just make your buckets, play D and everything will be all good.
Then again Harden doesn't play D and D-Howard sucks on offense so that may be the point of friction.

OKC would never have won a championship with Harden.

Well, Dwight has been to the Finals... so I guess being a leader is over-rated.

Basing it off what I see and hear from my own friends/family in Houston.
Look at it: Is Dwight or has he ever shown leadership? Orlando - no, LA - no (I don't hold this against him, Kobe is just a dick lol), and Houston - no.
Is Harden? I honestly don't think so if he's gonna come out saying "me and dwight are cornerstones and everyone is a role player"
Even superstars who know they're the franchise don't come out spewing and throwing other team members under the bus to the press. You don't hear LeBron or KD publicly saying: I won this shite for us. Part of being a good leader is keeping drama to a bare minimum so there's no discord between you and your teammates. Did Wade/LeBron talk in private man we carry this team, etc? Sure, but part of being a good leader doesn't let that get out

Harden and Howard are both great players, 2 of the best in the league by any standard.
I'm just saying that a vacuum at the leadership position has never boded well for NBA teams trying to win a championship.
It doesn't necessarily have to be either of those guys - I don't even know if it can be - but someone has to assume that role. (My money is on Beverley.)

I have worked private security for Harden. He is great to kids but a complete A-Hole to adults including other players. Camers go on and he is fine. Cameras go off and you see what a jerk he really is.

I'm sure the same could be said for most professional athletes, especially when you only have limited interaction with them. For every athlete out there there's a story about them being an a-hole to someone.

Dwight seems like a nice guy to everybody and seems like he's involved with his teammates.
Harden seems like he can be an arse and seems to keep to himself.

Geez...whole story turns out to be total bullshite! And how many outlets just ran with it?

istening to interview just now. Some things really got lost in translation. Some questions-answers:
Q: Who is the hardest player to defend? A: Probably Zach Randolph, he has a lot of great moves.
Q: Where would you like to play if you had to leave Rockets? A: probably LA Lakers. They do not have many great big men, I would have an opportunity to show myself.
Q: When communicating with Howard and Harden, what do you talk about? A: Basically I say just "Hello" and "Goodbye" to them. Q: They don't invite you to barbecue or something? A: No, they eat different food than me. Q: What? Do you mean they eat oysters? A: No... being European, I am more likely to eat oyster than them. They eat fast food.
Q: What was your worst game in NBA? A: There were 44 games when I stayed on the bench for the whole game. All these games were the worst, I would say. Q: And which was your best game? A: I honestly don't remember.
Q: You once said to Dwight Howard "Catch me if you can". Did he reacted to this saying in any way? A: Yeah, we sometimes make jokes about it during practice. He is a fun guy to be around in general. He is the soul of the team, someone who is fun to have in a locker room.
Q: Are you forbidden to say certain things because of your contract? A: well, yes. For example, I can't tweet or facebook anything about the state of my injury if I have one, until it's medically confirmed.

See, told you guys it was probably lost in translation.

This is so far from the truth. The team hung out all the time together. Went to dinner and movies all the time on the road. Watch pregame during a Rockets game. You can't tell me those guys aren't close.
Also, I love how people in this thread act like they personally know the players.
