Field worker was the only guy in his crew who didn't smoke. Complained that he should be payed a hour extra each day because of everyone else getting to break more often to smoke. When denied, he shows up to work with multiple packs of those candy cigarettes and took breaks to act like he was smoking using those. Once caught he agreed that it wasn't acceptable, so he showed the next day with a huge cigar, that didn't work either. Dude never showed up again.

(ps, he was told he could sit in the truck when everyone else smoked)

In high school, I was an uber douche. I was working at Winn-Dixie in Plaquemine. I show up, sit in the back eating a whole bunch of fruit.

Walk over to seafood and eat about 5lbs of crawfish.

Finish off by eating a few donuts from the bakery. And polished off with a smooth glass of milk.

Waved to the manager and said I quit. Never went back.

Which is exactly why I don't want to be friends with them.

My dad told me a story once that a Contractor out at the plant had told him. He had hired a guy who apparently was a recently released convict or paroled doing manual labor for this construction company.

Apparently the guy was lazy and had no work ethic, was accused of stealing from the site. So he calls a meeting, HR lady was present as a witness to fire him.

Guy tells him "well if you're going to call the police, that means I'm going back to jail. What's keeping me from killing you and raping her." Long silence. Guy just gets up and walks out.

I've got a few to tell. Nothing a crazy as you kids though.

A place I worked at in college as a part time job re-hired a woman that had left years ago due to trouble with alcohol. She came back and was fine for a few months. One day we get a call from the the police asking to speak to my boss. Apparently, she was found passed out down the street from our office in downtown br with no shoes. After the office manager found several bottles of vodka in her belongings in the office, she didnt return.

And my most recent tale: A coworker used up all his vacation and sick time because he took off every monday during football season and various doctor visits. He then found out he needed knee surgery (he worked in the warehouse). He took off the whole month of november to have the surgery and then got disability until it ran out in march. Before it was out, he came back to the office and met with the owner asking for my owner to fire him so he could collect unemployment. After my boss basically told him to frick off, we never heard from him again.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and we found him in the paper. He just got busted for sneaking narcotics into a prison around pierre part.

In the pharmaceutical business. I was in sales training. One District Manager hired a real loser. The guy coukd not remember basic facts about our drugs. I tell DM he will need special help to pass. Guy returns to field. Two days later leaves his manager a voice mail saying he quits and the company car is some where in Bergen County New Jersey. Exact words were "good luck finding it". It turned up 6 months later in a parking garage at a mall.

Employee went out on Short Term Disability to have surgery. You're eligible for 100% pay for 6 months in a calendar year.

Employee walked into HR @ 5 months and 2 weeks, and put his 2 week notice.

Employee was paid for 6 months @ 100% pay while he didn't work, and in fact, used his time to find another job.

It was fricking glorious, because it was and still is a horrible place to work, and they've fricked over countless other employees. It was great for them to get a small taste of payback.

We peed in all the dough prepped for the next day and went to work for another pizza chain the next day.

I think this stuff happens at every pizza joint. I had a two relatives that worked at pizza places while in college. The stories I've heard would make everyone give pizza.

How the heck you gonna' get fired on your day off?

Great question. Short answer is they think they can do whatever they want, long answer I collect my unemployment check each week until I find another job.

I got laid off or it felt like termination, after receiving my largest bonus ever about two weeks prior. My immediate boss didn't ask why the corporate office informed him to let me go - he stated "I was supposed to let you go on Friday, but, I had to leave work early" - so he let me go on Monday - when I asked him why? He couldn't answer because the corp office told him to do so and he was just following orders.
I wrote a letter to the President of the company, the VP called me back and told me that I had upset a customer in September - they let me go in January. The VP also made up some other bullshite that if true should have been in my file.
I figured it was a way save my salary so I learned to accept it.
About 2 years later I was in a small regional airport (Jackson) and recognized the VP drinking in a bar and dumped my drink on him as he was leaning against the bar.
I begged the low life Auburn grad to say a word and he wouldn't even look me in the eye.
Eventually the VP and my former boss were either terminated or laid off - I stayed friends with quite a few co-workers.
