Duck stamps are a tax imposed on duck hunters.

Pretty sure a certain percentage of the cost goes to conservation and protection of national refuges

The article in the OP confirms this

No, it's a flat fee of $15 from the Feds and $5 from the state. Just like a big game or saltwater fishing license, its in addition to the regular hunting license.

The landowner has the control over the PRIVATE LAND.
My reference was to "they" as in the government has no control over private land. And there is no requirement for a private landowner to sign an easement.
I love how DU always gets brought into these discussions... and how they are never in the interest of hunters...
Currently:

Ninety-eight cents out of every dollar generated by the sale of Federal Duck Stamps goes directly to purchase or lease wetland habitat for protection in the National Wildlife Refuge System.

Right. So after I decide to place my 5000 acres into this easement who pays to turn my farm/pasture into "ducky land?"

Is that from DUs website? If that trend were continued, I would love to pay more for a duck stamp. I just have a tough time paying more now if its all going to private easements when there is still publicly-owned land that can be improved.

BTW, since I'm all about everyone having their opinion and voice, Vitter co-authored an identical bill in the Senate. So you may want to call him too

Isn't duck hunting very popular right now? What about the money from those additional hunters?
What about the tax revenue from all the record ammo sales?

Are you saying that because of those provisions, the chances of cronyism/sketchy transactions are diminished?

That tax revenue is earmarked to be sent to the individual states under Pittman-Robertson. The funding is distributed to the states, but states are required to match $1 for every $3 of federal funding. It is to be spent on hunter's safety and shooting programs, habitat, and research.
I have no idea if it has been allocated and distributed. Larry would have to answer that.

Oh good Lord, you can't afford an extra $10? Do you know how many refuges where we hunt have been acquired with duck stamp money?
As to DU, those nets they built at the Arky border to short stop the ducks that belong to us in LA are the problem. Until the nets come down i can't support them.

I'm saying that transparency is good. The fact that they have to report annually, and account for where the dollars go, means that there is LESS likelihood that the money gets spent elsewhere, like so many other Federal programs

That's not what the additional money is being spent on jackass.
Read first. Then make your dumb comment.

No necessarily a bad thing. Conservation Easement

Duck stamps at any price are a tax.
Hunting licenses at any price are also a tax.
Why the eruption?
