"This is the old dude, Howie J Reynolds, and youre listening to Less Than Jake"

LTJ's Losing Streak & Pezcore were such great albums. With that said, I agree that Reel Big Fish was on a level of their own and then everyone else followed.

Edited to correct name

Howard Reynolds....he was their neighbor I think they said...or lived above their practice pad...ha

No ska thread is complete without Desmond Dekker.

Everything losing streak and before by LTJ trumps other stuff listed for skacore albums IMO....losers kings and things was a great collection.
That first against all authority was great though....put it on the other day....slapstick opivy and old boss tones before they got popular....

BTW, if you still have the CD of Losing Streak, if you hold down the reverse scan button but not skip track, you can go into the negative time code. At about -1:30, Howie Reynolds tells a story about how he's a live because someone once "stopped to wiped their arse before trying to kill me". The "you're listening to the old dude" line is the end of the story, and when the positive time stamp begins.

Pezcore though is still in the Holy Trinity of Third Wave Ska, right there with Op Ivy's Energy and RBF's Turn the Radio Off.

The original Specials did it best- pure genius- mixing Ska with punk. At the time, The Selecter and English Beat were also in the mode, but The Specials were in a class all their own.

I prefer Losing Streak to Pezcore personally. My two favorite ska-punk-3rd wave etc etc are easily Less Than Jake - Losing Streak & Streetlight Manifesto - Somewhere in the Between
