I Hate Windows 8... When Does Windows 9 Release?

I bought a new laptop on Friday night. A Toshiba Satellite 14" screen, Intel I5, 750gb HD, non touch screen, metal case, backlit keyboard. Love the laptop but HATE HATE HATE windows 8.1. I've spent all weekend trying to adjust to it. Googling and Youtubing tips, tricks etc to help, but I've decided to return the laptop and wait for Windows 9. I hear Microsoft is trying to push it out by early 2015 since Win 8 sucks so bad.
My only other option is to find what I want with Win 7 installed, but considering Windows will probably cease supporting Win 7, I'm not too keen on that idea.
This laptop has given me a headache.

Win9 is the last thing we need

Microsoft only recently stopped supporting XP a few months ago, and that's a 12-year-old OS. I think you'd be fine with 7.
Others will come along and tell you that you can adjust 8 to basically look and behave exactly like 7, and other stuff of that nature. I don't give a shite about that though. I generally skip a Windows. Went from 3.1 to 98 to XP to 7.

Download Classic Shell for Windows 8.1
Windows 8.1 really is better than 7

What do you like about it vs. 7? Other than it being "leaner" in any way, since my PC is not exactly lacking resources.

I don't even go to the start screen.
I would have installed Win7, but I heard there were some driver issues.

Charms bar + search. The search function is much better than on previous windows versions.
Right-clicking over the start menu brings up almost all the useful utilities without digging for them at all.

I hate the charm bars. I'll be using the mouse and accidentally go to far over and all of a sudden crap is popping up on my screen. I went to settings and thought I disabled this but it still happens.
I loved Win 7. I went from XP to 7 and there really was no learning curve. Now all of a sudden with 8.1 I feel like a retard. I know the common response is that it's not rocket science and I should just learn this, but I don't want to have to learn. I just want to know how to work it.
Plus many of the features I will never use. I don't b want apps on my computer. I have a phone for that.
Just very aggravated. I had heard the win8 horror stories but figured it wouldn't be that bad, but it is. I find myself wanting to use my old 6 yr old laptop instead of this brand new awesome laptop that I spent $600 on. That just sucks

7 was a great OS
8 not so much

It is 1 click to the desktop.
If you find it so difficult, pay $5 to Start 8 and one of the options is to completely disable the charm bars and corners.

8 actually is great if you can get over the difficulty of clicking 1 time to get to the desktop.
8 is much faster than 7.
8 is much more stable than 7.
8 has better security than 7.
But I understand how difficult that 1 click can be.

Kinda curious about how old you are, but either way you should just go ahead with win7.

Yes, it is much faster not just efficient. It boots up MUCH faster than 7.
I haven't had a single crash with 8. Couldn't say that with 7 although 7 was leaps and bounds better than XP.
Fact- 8 is a better operating system.
Fact - The interface was a mistake. They should have allowed an option to boot to desktop and keep the old start button.
Fact - The advantages of using 8 won't be noticed by the average user because they are mostly under the hood changes.

Sorry. I'm just a windows server admin who also handles NERC documentation. What do I know about the OS's?

I haven't used an actual computer with the new windows, but I love the tiles on my Lumia.
