Reasonable amount of cash to keep on hand?

I keep around $300.

Usually have 500-1k in the safe for an emergency. Or if I want to buy something and not feel guilty about it seeing it pop up on my cc statement

I would think @ 10% of all savings liquid and at hand would be a good number.

As part of our budget, we use cash envelopes for groceries (and related non-food items) and for "fun" money.

Otherwise, we don't usually keep cash in the house. My wife keeps $20 tucked in the back of her wallet, hidden. It's something she has done apparently since she was a teenager and her dad taught her to do that.
