And to those that say it could never make its way over here, we have people that work at our airports that don't know that DC stands for "district of Columbia". I bet this virus is smarter than all of them. This isn't "Outbreak" it's "Contagion".

Wasn't there just a big thread on ebola?

That's legitimately scary thought.

What does this have to do with anything?

He contracted it in Africa not Times Square. I think you are ok.

I saw that some American citizen died in Nigeria from Ebola that he contracted in Liberia while on his way back to the US ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/icons/spless.gif)

Because the medical infrastructure, detection capabilities, safety procedures, and ability to quarantine patients in the US is certainly comparable to that in Sierra Leone and Liberia

Except this:

“Ebola poses little risk to the U.S. general population,” mainly because “transmission is through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person,” including blood, vomit, and diarrhea.
So basically if your occupation isn't "scat porn actor" then you'll probably be OK.

Like I said, burn the entire area of the country with fire.

I'm getting tired of Ebola threads. If you idiots actually think this is a threat to you, then you're probably beyond educating. Call me if it become airborne and infectious during a non-symptomatic incubation period.

I'd post OMG buts its fricking broke.

1. As I posted in the thread two days ago, medical mortuary professionals dealing with Ebola patients are the most at risk of being infected. A doctor dying of the disease is not any indication of some pending global epidemic.
And aircrews who travel to parts of the world with certain well known infectious diseases are, in fact, trained to look for signs for a number of them--including Ebola.
Our medical protocols are far superior to Africa's and they have yet to have a true epidemic outbreak in any urban center (and you know, it started over there). The disease doesn't spread by casual contact. You'll be fine.

Ebola, Mexicans, our border security is pitiful.

Although the CDC’s caution here is warranted, his death is effectively proof of concept of the virus’s ability to spread through air travel.
What does this even mean? He was symptomatic BEFORE the flight.
