I was watching the news this morning and it seems this one is different. Normally it's the diseases high mortality rate (90%+) and the fact it kills so quickly coupled with the fact you've got to physically come into contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person that has limited these outbreaks to mostly remote villages.
But this outbreak is different. People are not dying as quick nor is the mortality rate as high. They said this morning it's like 60%. Also, this outbreak is different due to the fact a guy was able to stay up and moving long enough to get on a plane and fly into a major airport (I think it was Nigeria). And finally, it's different due to the fact that for the first time there is documentation of someone getting infected who did not come into direct contact with infected person. This woman got sick from disinfecting the bio-hazard suits worn by those who do come in direct contact with infected people.
I'm not worried yet. But this infection is different and more dangerous than past outbreaks.
This is all correct.

That doesn't represent me at all. You can joke all you want but don't come crying to me when you are bleeding from your a-hole.

Lighten up bro you don't have to worry about Ebola.

Ebola is the least of our worries. Barry's kids have more diseases than Ebola. Ought to be able to farm them like nutria- invasive unwanted species.

Let's just open our borders and see what happens?
You don't want to be a Meanie, do you?
I'm sure that everything will be OK.

The only way we could open them any more than they already are would be to install concourse connectors like you see in airports every 100 yards on our border and have them all set to move north.

This is part of the plan that included hijacking flight MH370.

People like me who work there will disagree. These are also malaria areas. I don't hear people worrying about us bringing back malaria.

Difference between Malaria and Ebola is that malaria is treatable...Ebola isn't.
Posted on 7/29/14 at 2:14 pm to lsufanintexas
Malaria is the number one killer in the world. You get malaria outside a malaria zone you will likely die before your doctor checks for it. Once it hits you, you are completely out of it and sometimes go into a coma.

Not worried. Dustin Hoffman will save us.

I read Richard Preston's The Hot Zone back in high school so that was at least a decade ago, but IIRC there actually is an airborne strain of the virus, Ebola Reston. It was named after the research facility in Reston, Virginia where it was discovered. It killed monkeys in this facility that were separated by cages and across the room from one another, thus leading the investigators to believe it was airborne. It was eventually discovered that this particular form of Ebola hasn't yet made the jump to humans- we're immune to it. But it wouldn't be an enormous stretch to assume that it would eventually be capable of making that jump. If it does we could all be in some deep, deep trouble.
