Seven runs last night. All by way of the doink. I saw a stat at the break that had the Astros at either first or second in % of runs via HR's.

Also saw on my twitter feed that Seattle has had a scout at Astros games. They're speculating that it could be Carter.

Wait so lunhow doesn't sick now?
It is a fact that the 4 players I listed are doing well at a very low level so far. That has nothing to do with lunhows blowing the past two 1:1 picks and his utter failure to put together a major league roster

I don't blame him for Aiken, especially considering he gets 1:2 next year.
As for Appel, it's not looking good versus the alternatives.

1:1 is better than 1:2 and a 1 year delay. Plus we lost our 6th rounder because of it.

They can all potentially blow their arms out

More likely to blow out his arm*

I don't think that's correct either.

Well the Astros obviously disagree.
They don't just cancel a deal with a top overall pick for the hell of it.
They obviously believe he is more likely to blow out his arm. Therefor, I will not fault Luhnow for not taking a risk on having a 1-1 pick with a risky arm. A 1-2 pick will be fine.

Point is that they have middle of the order power guys on the MLB roster already. Sure, they strike out too much and they have some very promising table-setters speed guys on the farm, but I'm for the perceived best player available approach.

lunhow better hope he blows out his arm

At the same time, let's say Luhnow came out and said "We saw something in his UCL that concerned us, however we don't think it is a big enough concern to renegotiate the contract." Aiken then signs for 6.5.
Fast forward one year, Aiken blows out his arm. You and many others would be calling for multiple heads in the organization because "They saw something in his UCL and should have seen this coming." The talking heads (Keith Law and company) can all say that they wouldn't fault the Astros if they signed him and he blew out his arm and that is complete bullshite.
It's a no win situation for Luhnow. He decided Aiken wasn't worth the risk. I'm okay with that.

Holy shite, Jason Lane pitches for the Padres now. I'm amazed that I missed this development. Thank you, carry on.
Holy shite is right. Never thought I would hear that name again. Wheres Tim Purpura to hype him up as the next great Astros prospect?

Good, Keuchel is the one pitcher I wouldn't want to get rid of

They do understand the the fire sale has to stop at some point if you want to rebuild. Don't they?
