Liuzza's isn't too far away (mid-city), but their seafood po'boys are out of sight, onion rings are among the best I've had anywhere, and their Frenchaletta is a New Orleans institution. Oh, and their food is really cheap.

Do a search as this is a common discussion.

Will say you're close to Guy's further uptown on Magazine. The Grocery on St. Charles for a Muffuletta. Those 2 are fairly close or inside the GD.

What about Mahoney's? Someone said they've got great poboys, in particular a shrimp & fried green tomato one.

I do not like Mahoney's. It's one of the most expensive poboys, and I find their sandwiches bland. I'm sure Wise will be here soon to wax poetically about their Club Sandwich....
I would look elsewhere.
Guys, Parkway (out in midcity) are my personal favorites. Sammich, is a non traditional poboy that's in the Carrolton neighborhood may be worth a look.

I think it's good, but it is a little more expensive and some posters bitch about it. But it's close and tasty.

As mentioned, Guy's is good, too.

I'm glad you jumped in to echo my opinions.

Long time no see. How's the RDV?

Well, since it's within walking distance, I still like it a lot.

Wise complained that he got a skunky beer because of bad tap line on one occasion, but who knows. I've taken care of it.

Get outta here...that's a shame. A group of us were in town last fall and we went to Tracey's (as someone recommended it) for the Michigan game. I thought it was a great crowd (college football/sports wise). The weather had just dipped and all of the doors were wide open. The beer selection was average (mainly had an Abita and a few Sierra Nevadas) and we only had appetizers as we were going to dinner after. That's a shame to hear about.

Don't get me wrong, I like the poboys at Mahoneys -- the root beer Chisesi ham, and the chicken liver one, in particular -- but $17 for a poboy should be a crime.

My dad went to Tracey's a few months ago and said it was awful.

First few times at Parasol's were great.

I went during the spring with a friend and the staff was rude and gave 0 fux. Took an hour for them to get us a RB poboy and firecracker shrimp and the place wasn't even half full
