Rocky Mountain Energy Summit. It's pretty much Denver's version of OTC, but obviously for onshore operations and slightly smaller scale of an event.

ETA: shite in Denver is more expensive in general, so the RMES may not have an effect on rental car prices. You could be seeing normal prices, but they are expensive relative to what you're used to down south.

ETA2: Fractivist groups will be out in full force that week. SMH.

its always really expensive to rent cars at the denver airport. Try the downtown location, and just drop it off at the airport.

take a shuttle downtown (uber is expensive from the airport, a cab is cheaper) and rent there.

Sounds like this would be a winner. Looks like unlucky timing for this trip.

Also, avoid the smaller companies like Fox Rental and Advanced. They get horrible reviews.

Meh- I've used Fox in San Diego and found it to be as good or better than the big boys. The clerks were courteous, didn't try to upsell, and the cars were clean and seemed well-maintained. I read the review beforehand and decided to roll the dice anyway.

I'm convinced that 90% of the bad reviews for anything on the internet are due simply to the stupidity of the reviewer in accessing a service or using a product.

"Escort"?!?! That has not been in production in over 11 years. You meant Ford Focus which actually would have been fine for someone your size believe it or not.

Ha!

Yup. Meant, Focus. I can fit my legs into just about any car but overall comfort for 10 days and a couple of long driving days with the wife and a 3-year-old made it less than desirable.

The bad reviews were specifically for the Denver locations. Didn't check any reviews from other areas, but the Denver reviews were across the board bad, it seemed.
