The GOP has no desire wage political or informational warfare. They view such means of attaining power as entirely beneath them. They would rather lose elections.

Exactly.
As an example, see the dummies on here who will not support Bill Cassidy against Mary Mary in the La senate race because he is not "conservative" enough.
It's a pretty damn important election in the grand scheme of things for the GOP, so people need to nut up and make sure Mary loses.

As a rule the GOP are terrible communicators. The party hasn't had a gifted political communicator in thirty years.

Also, the Democratic Party had their "fracture" twenty to thirty years ago. Blue Dog vs. New Left. The result was five GOP presidencies in seven election cycles.

Blue Dogs have been largely wiped away - both because they are shrinking in number and because many just converted to the GOP - with a few exceptions (Donnelly, Manchin, and a few others).
