I may need to give PH another try. Went there a couple of times right after it opened and wasn't that impressed. What are some of the better things about it?

Beats the shite out of me. I haven't been to 70% of these places, I just know that's an attitude that has permeated BR for at least 30 years.

Honestly, the biggest draw for me is so many friends bartending there. Not that I don't like the place.

Friday nights they usually have a decent band, Huge beer and spirit selection., and service is pretty good with the very attractive female servers.

They also have a pool table, foosball and golden tee.

The front part of The Cove is cool, where they have the beer taps. And the guys who work there know their stuff. The rest of the bar is a massive barn and I don't think the people who work in the main area (outside of the craft cocktail bar) know much about booze. Which is bad, because the selection of spirits is beyond overwhelming and intimidating.
Frankly, I don't know how that place works financially. They must have a couple of hundred grand tied up in inventory.

I love the idea that every place in BR has to be strictly categorized, and everyone who doesn't strictly meet that particular categorization must forever swear it off

That's how bars work. Some bars even manage to have multiple crowds, but they have them there at different times.

For example, City Bar is filled with Jersey Shore types at 10:00pm, but has happy hour types at 5:00pm.

The main types of people at bars in BR are as follows:
Hipsters 18-22 (Spanish Moon, The Library, ect)
Hipsters 21-35 (Radio Bar, Chelsea's, ect)
Greeks 18-23 (Reggies, Fred's, Bogies, ect)
Jersey Shore 18-22 (Click's, ect)
Jersey Shore 22-35 (City Bar, ect)
Blacks 18+
Young Professionals 22-35 (Lucy's, Pelican House, The Office, Schlitz and Giggles, ect)
Rednecks 18+ (Texas Club)
Happy Hour: 35+ (Boudreaux & Thibodaux's, Walk-On's, Happy's, ect)

Young professionals will generally drink with most groups.

Rednecks and tap/out will drink with each other, but rarely with others.

Greeks and hipsters don't go to the same places.

Young hipsters will drink with blacks up to a point (see The Library), but won't tolerate anyone old.

Happy Hour people are out of the area by the time any other group is going out anyways.

Well collecting that shite is a hobby of Tom's regardless of profit .

The drinks are great; I just find the place incredibly boring.

No such thing. Everyone fits into a clique at the bar they frequent often. They may even be in different cliques at different bars. Some people may be a greek one night and a hipster the next.

However, most people who don't dress in a particular style (ie Tapout, fratstar, cowboy, or skinny jeans/flannel) generally fall under the Young Professional, Happy Hour, or black demographics

What? They play decent music at an acceptable volume, there's a good mix of folks from the neighborhood, the prices are good for beer, they only sell top shelf spirits which keeps the riff-raff out, they can make cocktails and there are usually decent looking women around. What more can you ask for in a bar? Yeah, hipsters go there, but I would rather be around hipsters than some Affliction-wearing douchebag who wants to fight me because I bumped in to him.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I've never really seen the attraction, either. ETA: Didn't know they had a pool table.

You can also play jenga with 2x4's outside

However they have insufficient lighting outside.

I've only been a few times and stayed inside at a table. Didn't really explore.
